For a Sunday lunch, the writer ordered honghuajiao kaoyu with ningbo fish, added the vegetable set and self-bar for two, totaling ₩55,800, and found the boneless fish and rich mala broth just as satisfying as hoped. The verdict: always get the ningbo fish, and the vegetable set is non-negotiable.

A couple ordered two servings of fresh pork belly with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and rice, grilling domestic pork belly and kimchi together on a huge cast-iron pot lid, and talking face to face was easy because Jeonju House uses only a ceiling vent instead of a long hood that drops over the grill. The thick pork belly with grilled kimchi and the house-made side dishes are what stay with you.
