Yuzu gabburi oranda gift box shopping at Sokcho Yetgokgan, unit 31

Sokcho Yetgokgan is a traditional snack shop inside Sokcho Jungang Market in Sokcho, selling gift boxes of yuzu gabburi oranda (crispy rice puff snack), yugwa, and doraji-deodeok syrup. The yuzu gabburi oranda tasting sample melted softly rather than tasting hard, so two boxes came home — though one box was finished in the car before even reaching the door. The Naver map address shows unit 104, but the shop is actually in unit 31, and buying here qualifies for parking support at the Sokcho Tourist and Fisheries Market parking lot.

Jeongsan Beach omakase in Samcheok: soy crab sauce & fried rice

Samcheok Bomulseom is an ocean-view bar right in front of Jeongsan Beach in Samcheok, Gangwon, built around a ₩25,000 seasonal omakase. The course ran from seafood stew, kimchi pancake and boiled pork belly to soy-marinated crab sauce, pork belly kimchi tofu and a truffle abalone-liver butter fried rice, plenty for two, and the 3-day-aged crab sauce had shells soft enough to make crab shell fried rice with. If you're staying at Sol Beach in Samcheok and want a meal outside the resort, Samcheok Bomulseom is the answer.

Fresh-fried potato and fire jjamppong croquette 6-set, Sokcho market

Samsam Goroke is a handmade croquette shop at stall 42 near Manseok Dak-gangjeong in Sokcho's Jungang Market. The writer packed a 6-piece set (₩17,000) and couldn't wait to get back to the guesthouse, eating it right in a corner of the market — crispy outside, packed full inside, filling enough that one was enough on its own. The Sokcho potato and fire jjamppong flavors stood out, and eating them fresh out of the fryer is the way to go.
