After work, I was looking for a good place around Suji-gu Office to have a simple dinner with my mom and younger sibling, and we ended up at Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch (옛날경성순대국 수지구청역점)! 🍲 The weather suddenly turned chilly, and when I’m craving a warm broth like this, there’s really nothing better than sundae-guk (Korean sausage soup) or gukbap (rice soup), haha. It is near Suji-gu Office Station and Suji Library, so it was easy to find, and it seemed like a great place for a filling bowl. We went in for a light dinner and tried it together with my mom and sibling :)

Exterior and Atmosphere Near Suji-gu Office Station

As you head toward Suji Library, the large “Gyeongseong Sundaeguk” sign catches your eye. Even from the outside, it had that friendly feel of a place where you can stop in for a warm bowl of gukbap, haha. I visited with my mom and sibling after work, and it was easy to get to because it is close to Suji-gu Office Station. It was also nice that we could eat late. It felt like an easy, no-pressure gukbap spot in Suji-gu Office for a casual dinner!

Once inside, there were more tables than I expected, with plenty of room. The space had wood-tone tables and black chairs.

On the wall, there was a fun explanation of how to enjoy sundae-guk, along with neatly organized country-of-origin information. Being able to check the origins of ingredients such as pork and sundae made it feel more trustworthy.

There was also a self-serve side-dish bar, so we could bring back as much extra banchan (Korean side dishes) as we wanted! Along with the basic side dishes, there were onions and peppers ready to take, so you can simply help yourself if you want them with your sundae-guk.
Menu: From Sundae-guk to Set Meals

The menu had a good range, from gukbap and set meals to side dishes and drinking snacks. Alongside the standard sundae-guk, there were gukbap options such as spicy gukbap and special spicy gukbap, while the set meals let you enjoy boiled pork or sundae as well. What especially caught my eye was the separate student gukbap for ₩9,000! Uncooked sundae-guk takeaway for two was being sold at ₩15,000, down from ₩18,000! Considering prices these days, that seems like a reasonable price for students to have a filling meal without too much 부담, haha. A simple bowl of gukbap would be great, or if you visit with several people, it would also be nice to add dishes such as boiled pork or sundae.
Ordering Sundae-guk and Sausage-Only Sundae-guk
We ordered two sundae-guk soups (₩11,000 each) and one sausage-only sundae-guk (₩10,000).

First, we were each given a bowl of rice and the basic side dishes arrived!

Cheongyang peppers, dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste), saeujeot (salted shrimp), and perilla seed powder were also on the table, so we could add them to suit our tastes.

Finally, the sundae-guk arrived!

I added dadaegi, perilla seed powder, and Cheongyang peppers!

The broth was hot and clean-tasting, with a good amount of sundae and meat, making it great for a filling bowl. There was a comfortable amount of sundae rather than too much, and paired with the meat, one bowl of gukbap was quite satisfying. The Cheongyang peppers especially gave the broth a lightly spicy kick, so it did not feel rich or greasy.
Receipt Event

They were also running an event where you receive chal sundae (glutinous rice sausage) for taking part in the Naver receipt event!
A Simple Family Dinner After Work
We visited Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch with my mom and sibling for dinner after work! A warm bowl of sundae-guk felt filling and was perfect for a simple evening meal. The broth was easy to enjoy, and it was convenient to take as much onion, pepper, and other sides as we wanted from the self-serve bar. Rather than an exceptionally special sundae-guk, it felt like a comfortable place to visit when you want a warm bowl of gukbap near Suji-gu Office Station! Since it is open until late, it also seems like a good option when you are looking for dinner after work 😊
