Yongin Korean restaurant for spicy sundae-guk near Suji-gu Office
In short
Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch is a Korean restaurant near Suji-gu Office Station in Yongin, Gyeonggi. We ordered two bowls of spicy sundae-guk and a sundae-and-pyeonyuk set meal, mixing rice into the peppery broth and enjoying the sliced pork alongside it. A comforting choice for a day when hot, spicy gukbap sounds perfect.

You know those days when you suddenly crave a hot bowl of gukbap in the Suji area? Especially lately, when I randomly start thinking about spicy broth, dishes like sundae-guk, ppyeo-haejangguk (pork bone hangover soup), and haejangguk (hangover soup) seem just perfect, haha.

A gukbap restaurant near Suji-gu Office Station
This time, I visited Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch (옛날경성순대국 수지구청역점). I stopped by while looking for somewhere to eat near Suji-gu Office Station, and it seemed like a place sundae-guk fans would be pretty happy to find.
True to its name, it is close to Suji-gu Office Station, so it was not hard to find. Personally, I really like having places like this near a station, haha. It is convenient to head straight out after eating, and it feels like it would be nice for a drink after work too(?)

Looking over the menu, there were not only sundae-guk but also soup dishes such as ppyeo-haejangguk and haejangguk, so I debated what to get for a moment, but in the end...

Two bowls of spicy sundae-guk
We ordered two bowls of spicy sundae-guk that day. Sundae-guk has to be spicy, right? Haha. I like the clear-broth version too, but sometimes I really crave this kind of peppery broth.
You know that feeling when one spoonful of broth warms you right through? Ah... this is why we eat gukbap, haha.

Rather than being spicy for the sake of being spicy, it had an added peppery kick to the broth, which made it great with rice. It seems like a good choice on a chilly day, or for anyone recovering after drinks the night before, haha.

A sundae-and-pyeonyuk set meal alongside sundae-guk
And we got the sundae-and-pyeonyuk set meal too! We were going to have only sundae-guk, but it felt like something would be missing, so we ordered the set as well. It actually goes surprisingly well with gukbap.
Have a spoonful of hot sundae-guk, then a piece of sundae and pyeonyuk (sliced pressed pork)... this combination is pretty good, hahaha.

A bowl of sundae-guk is great for eating alone, but if you visit with a group, ordering a set meal to share could be nice too. Eating only sundae-guk can feel a little lacking after a while, but having a side dish like this made the meal feel more substantial.

For days when you want hot soup
If you are looking for a good restaurant around Suji or the Suji-gu Office area, this kind of gukbap place could be worth trying. It looks like a solid option not only for sundae-guk lovers, but also for anyone who enjoys hot soup such as ppyeo-haejangguk or haejangguk, since there are several menu choices.
More than anything, I like that with gukbap, you do not need to spend ages deciding what to eat.

“What should I eat today?” Then just sundae-guk. It is the easiest choice, hahaha.
Recommended if you like spicy broth! Personally, I was glad we ordered the spicy sundae-guk that day. The broth was hot and peppery, so it was great for mixing with rice. With the sundae and pyeonyuk too, it felt like a proper, satisfying meal.

You know those days when you just crave a bold, stimulating broth for no reason? If you are looking for gukbap dishes such as sundae-guk, ppyeo-haejangguk, or haejangguk near Suji-gu Office Station then, I think Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch is worth stopping by.
Especially if you like things spicy, go for the spicy sundae-guk like I did, haha. After one spoonful of that hot broth, it gave me exactly that feeling of, “Ah, I ate well today.”

On a day when you are craving gukbap in Suji, I think this is a place worth remembering :)
