Daejeon Korean BBQ with a kids’ playroom: Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang

I met up with a friend after such a long time and visited Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Daejeon Gayang Branch (한마음정육식당 대전가양점) for some delicious meat.

First of all, there was plenty of parking both in front of and behind the restaurant, so parking was easy. The dedicated lot behind the restaurant fits around 7–8 cars, while the front has space for about 4.

A spacious interior and kids’ playroom

The interior was spacious with a pleasant atmosphere. The standard four-person tables gave us plenty of room to eat comfortably, and there were also private room-style seats along one side, which would be great for family gatherings or company dinners.

There was also a playroom on one side where children could have fun. It was nicely equipped with things kids would love, including a claw machine, slide, and jungle gym.

Thanks to that, the adults can enjoy a relaxed meal while the kids play their hearts out.

What’s in the beef platter?

The signature dishes here are Hanmaeum aged beef and aged pork, and we ordered the beef platter. It comes with boneless short rib, short rib, bone-in short rib, flat iron steak, and beef brisket, for a total of 600 g.

Juicy aged beef and side dishes

First, a neat spread of side dishes arrived, including steamed egg, kimchi, perilla leaves, and seasoned bean sprouts. I was happy that steamed egg, one of my favorites, came as a basic side dish too~

The scallion salad came with jjolmyeon, chewy wheat noodles, mixed in, so it felt like a delicious bibim-jjolmyeon dish~

Then our meat arrived. It looked so abundant, and I already felt like it was going to be delicious 😄

They say the meat is aged at a low temperature of 2°C for 144 hours, then trimmed in-house so they can serve its best flavor and natural texture. Maybe that was why, but the meat was especially juicy, so tender, and delicious. The beef juices and tenderness filling my mouth were simply blissful^^

The meat was delicious just on its own,

but it was even better with the scallion salad I love.

It was also so good with mushrooms or perilla leaves like this.

And it was really delicious wrapped as ssam (leaf wraps), too! It practically melted in my mouth.

Since it included several cuts, it was fun tasting them one by one.

Keeping doenjang-jjigae warm to the last bite

And when you’re eating meat, you can’t leave out doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), right? It was so savory and delicious that I kept eating it right to the end even though I was full. The more it simmered, the richer the broth became, making it perfect with the meat.

There was even a separate burner just for the doenjang-jjigae, so we could eat it warm from start to finish, which I loved. While we were eating, the owner came around and asked first whether we wanted a refill. We were too full for one, but that kind service made the end of the meal feel especially pleasant.

How was it for family meals and group gatherings?

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Daejeon Gayang Branch is a Korean barbecue restaurant with a comfortable interior, good value for money, and the kind of experience that feels worth the price. Above all, the meat was so juicy and tasty, and the owner and staff were extremely kind, so we could eat comfortably and happily.

It is also close to Daejeon IC, Daejeon Station, and Daejeon Complex Terminal, so it is very accessible. Thanks to the playroom, parents can enjoy their meals comfortably, and the group seating is well arranged too, so I highly recommend it for group gatherings or family meals!
