Anseong brunch café: 11am orders and layered croissant at Chat Baker

Today's spot is a big café out in Pyeongtaek/Anseong — Chat Baker! My kid and I took a one-night trip to Anseong for our birthdays, and while looking for a large café near our stay I found one that does both bakery and brunch, so after our overnight stay we headed to Chat Baker!!! Let's get right into it!

Where is Chat Baker in Anseong, and what is it like on arrival?

Chat Baker is a brunch and bakery café at 3-dong 101-ho, 4391 Seodong-daero, Gongdo-eup, Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do. Exactly 10 minutes from where we stayed!!!! Parked and walked right in~

Even from outside it was bigger than expected!!!!! Such a pretty green exterior~ But... it felt a little different from your typical large café!

Whoa... the atmosphere is seriously next level............. Totally different vibe than outside? The moment we walked in, a space we never expected opened up, and my kid and I locked eyes and both went WOW at the same time.....

Chat Baker is split across two floors! The first floor felt spacious and really airy overall!! Tables weren't cramped together either~

Near the window there's an artificial water curtain pouring down~ gave off real rainy-day vibes~~ Ooh, that's nice? Such a different feeling from what the outside suggested, so my expectations went up the moment we walked in~

Decided to head up to the second floor first!!!~~~ Totally different vibe up there too~~ Overall clean and open, so it felt even bigger and airier than the first floor!!

The seating options were really varied too~~ comfy floor-seating tables, regular chair tables, round tables, and even group seating for several people!!! So nice to be able to pick a spot to your taste!!! When you come with a kid you naturally look for the comfy seating, and having so many options here was great~ The window side is floor-to-ceiling glass too, so sunlight pours in and you get the full view outside — just sitting there felt healing~~ The interior design is no joke..... so tasteful..

My little one spotted a seat and declared this the one~ took off shoes and climbed up, settling in like it was already home turf!! The space itself is so wide that even with a few people around it didn't feel cramped! Going to a café with a kid usually means feeling on edge in tight spots, but here the roomy space let us sit back and relax!!! Okay, seat secured — now let's eat some bread~~!!

Back down to the first floor~~~ oh my..... there were way more kinds of bread than I expected...... self-proclaimed bread lover here... I stood there agonizing for real... salt ciabatta, salt bread, croissants, scones, mont blanc cake!!!!!! I'm losing it.. I want all of it!!!!!! Can't choose.......

Pulled myself together first!!!!! Went with the salt bread my kid's obsessed with lately, the millefeuille croissant I love so much, plus panne bacon cream pasta and strawberry ade!!!

Brunch orders at Chat Baker start at 11am

Just so you know, at Chat Baker the bakery and drinks are available from 10am, but the brunch menu can only be ordered from 11am onward~ So we timed it for 11am and ordered bread and brunch together!!!

Took our buzzer back to the table~~ oh my gosh..... the buzzer is so cute... haha want it.... too cute........

How was the panne bacon cream pasta?

Finally... the buzzer went off.... grabbed knife and fork~~ headed back up to the second floor~~~ the visuals alone are totally my style...........

Let's start with the panne~~ maybe because it'd been a while, but why was it so good... thick, rich cream sauce...... the noodles were fully coated in it too, so when you twirl a bite in your mouth.... that savory, deep cream flavor fills every corner!!!!! There was bacon and mushroom mixed in too, so the texture was great to chew on........ insane..... T_T

Tear off a piece of the bread bowl and dip it deep into the cream sauce...... the bread itself was so soft...... and once it soaks up that thick cream sauce it's just so good.......... rich, savory cream flavor done right — it'd been a while since I had panne but this was super satisfying!!!!!!

Time for the salt bread~~ as always, the basics are the best!!!!!! Slightly crisp outside, moist inside, with a subtle salty note rising up — pure and clean flavor!!!!!!!!

And the millefeuille croissant I'd been looking forward to... the layers are insane, right? Crisp and sweet outside, and when you bite in the layers shatter flaky and crisp while the inside stays chewy~~!!!!!!!!!!

Turns out it was my kid's absolute favorite..... my kid ate almost all of it... insisted on finishing every bit, saying we couldn't leave any!!!!!! I quickly inhaled the last of the salt bread myself!!!! Dipped it in the leftover panne cream sauce~ and scraped the sauce completely clean.... haha the plate was spotless, right..?

Finished it all off with a cool glass of strawberry ade~~ sweet, refreshing, and the fizzy pop cleaned up my palate perfectly after all that thick cream pasta!!!!! Ahh..... so full and satisfied~~

We were about to head out and my kid went 'no!' and struck this pose........ thanks to that we got another great shot of my kid that day~

Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café was big and roomy, so it was great to visit with a kid, and best of all we got to enjoy everything from bread to pasta deliciously — very satisfying overall!!!
