Cheongju birthday mochi cake, half strawberry half muscat: Tteokmama

It was my beloved mom's birthday and I wanted to get her a pretty cake, so I looked around here and there — turns out there's a special mochi cake beyond the basic ones 🎂 The moment I saw it I knew that was the one, and I booked it right away.

Where is Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, and how do you order event tteok?

Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch (떡마마 청주율량점) is on the right corner of the Sacheon intersection, easy to spot — the sign says Tteokmama and you can see it from far away. There's a parking space if you go around the side of the shop.

Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch offers free delivery anywhere in Cheongju on orders over ₩69,000, and you can custom-order all kinds of event tteok, from baek-il (100-day) and dol (first birthday) tteok sets to thank-you gift tteok — great for booking ahead for a special day or a Cheongju baek-il celebration.

The store is super clean and pleasant, and the space itself is spacious with no cramped feeling at all — plus there are plenty of tables, so you can enjoy tasty tteok and drinks right there in the shop!

Fruit chapssaltteok and the rest of the tteok case

Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch has my favorite red bean fruit chapssaltteok (chewy rice cake filled with fruit) haha. My mom loves red bean, so she once bought me this red bean fruit chapssaltteok and I remember it being so delicious!!!! For fruit flavors, they have strawberry, orange, tangerine, shine muscat, kiwi, apple grape, and more — a full lineup. Personally I highly recommend the strawberry and shine muscat, so good.

Besides fruit chapssaltteok, there are so many other delicious tteok too! From traditional ones like castella injeolmi and black sesame injeolmi to tteok that kids of all ages would love without any pushback — you can pick whatever suits your taste.

Honey baekseolgi, red bean siru-tteok, baekseolgi, chocolate seolgi, barley jeungpyeon, red bean paste jeungpyeon, jangi-jitteok, five-color sesame songpyeon (half-moon rice cake), mugwort gaetteok, dongbu mosi-songpyeon, sesame mosi-songpyeon — Chuseok is coming up soon, so it'd be nice to buy some tasty songpyeon haha.

Walnut gangjeong and sikhye at Tteokmama too

I personally love walnut gangjeong (candied walnut snack) and go looking for it, so I was so happy to find it at Tteokmama. I bought one and tried it — sweet and delicious, I finished it that same day as a snack! If you like walnut gangjeong I recommend ordering it, and there's also gamjatteok, mini jocheong, and bangultteok.

They also sell sikhye (sweet rice punch) as a drink ~! I never used to seek out sikhye before, but lately I've oddly found myself craving it haha. Easy to drink and convenient.

There's also a sign for 2026 Tteokmama Chuseok songpyeon prices, so check it out when you visit!!! haha. I should go buy some songpyeon too.

The half strawberry, half shine muscat mochi cake

Eek, this is the very strawberry mochi cake I ordered today, and I requested it half strawberry and half shine muscat. My mom loves strawberry but also loves shine muscat, so I was going to just pick one, but felt it'd be a shame, so I asked for half-and-half — and they happily said yes right away, which made me so happy ♥︎♥︎

Just looking at it, the strawberry mochi cake is adorable — strawberries and shine muscat are arranged like a flower around the round cake, with one plump strawberry sitting right in the center, making it so pretty!! Round chocolate mochi pieces circle the outside of the cake — it was the prettiest cake I've seen.

Taking a bite, the chewy, soft rice cake blended with sweet flavors — it was even more delicious than I expected 🍓 My mom said this was the first time she'd ever received a cake like this and loved how pretty it was, hehe. The owner was kind too, and if you're looking for a special cake or a great tteok spot in Cheongju, I recommend Tteokmama Yullyang branch.
