After visiting Bijarim Forest, it was starting to feel like time for a meal. I thought, I have to eat black pork again, and while looking for a nearby black pork place, I found this gem.

Let me tell you about the generous black pork set meal we enjoyed at such an affordable price!
Don Gueo Location and Parking
Don Gueo (돈구어) is about a 10-minute drive from Bijarim Forest. There is room for four cars beside the restaurant, and I parked on the road in front before going in. You can also use nearby roadside parking and public parking lots around the restaurant.
Don Gueo Exterior and Interior Atmosphere

When I arrived, I spotted the Don Gueo sign on the first floor with its cute pig mascot, so it was easy to find.
Once inside, there was a clean, comfortable interior waiting for us!

It was bigger than I expected. It can seat up to 56 people, so I think it would be great for a group gathering or company dinner, too.

The marble-look tables and warm lighting create a relaxing atmosphere. We had walked around a lot and were tired, so it was lovely to slowly grill the meat in such a comfortable setting.
Jeju Black Pork Set Menu and Order Times

At Don Gueo, you can order everything from assorted sets to individual cuts of black pork: five-layer pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl, and gabrisal (pork shoulder). They also have meal dishes including naengmyeon (cold noodles), kongguksu (noodles in soy milk broth), steamed egg, fried rice, and soybean paste stew.

But the reason we came that day was the Jeju black pork set! For ₩21,000 per person, it comes with black pork five-layer pork belly, kimchi stew, and rice. You can order the Jeju black pork set from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and thankfully we arrived before 4 and got to have it.

By the way, you get complimentary steamed egg if you join the receipt review event, so definitely take part!!
Trying the Black Pork Five-Layer Pork Belly Set

Once we sat down, the table was set with banchan (Korean side dishes): pickled radish, stir-fried fish cake, kimchi, bean sprouts, bracken fern, wrap vegetables, shredded scallions, salt, and ssamjang (savory dipping paste).

The seasoned shredded scallions were especially delicious, so I refilled them once more!

Help yourself to more side dishes at the self-service bar if you need them.

After a short wait, the black pork five-layer pork belly arrived. Isn't the mushroom stamped with “Jeju Don Gueo” so cute? Haha.
The kimchi stew that came with it had black pork and tofu in it, and the broth was seriously rich and deep—exactly my style💕 With the fluffy complimentary steamed egg, it was a totally generous meal for two.
The owner placed the meat on the grill for us and helped us add bean sprouts, bracken fern, kimchi, and garlic alongside it.

You know you have to place the kimchi and vegetables where the fat runs off, so they mix with the black pork fat and become insanely delicious, right??
We visited after making a reservation, so we also received grilling cheese as a freebie and grilled it together.
~Meat grilling in progress~
The beautifully browned black pork five-layer pork belly🥹 For the first bite, I dipped it in just a touch of salt.

It was tender and chewy, with the wonderfully springy texture unique to black pork fully intact—so ridiculously delicious!! It is different from charcoal-grilled black pork; cooked on a stone grill, the fat glistened and its chewy, nutty flavor came through even more.
I dipped it in meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), too,

and it was just as amazing wrapped with bracken fern and bean sprouts cooked in pork fat, or eaten with the shredded scallions.

It was all so delicious with rice or the grilled cheese. By the time we finished, I honestly felt like I was going to burst, haha.
Final Thoughts on the ₩21,000-per-Person Black Pork Set
You all know that a filling black pork meal in Jeju can easily come to ₩40,000–₩50,000 per person. But at Don Gueo, it was ₩21,000 per person; the meat did not feel lacking at all, and with the kimchi stew, it made for such a generous meal.
The value for money is excellent, and most of all, the food was so good that my mom was very happy, which made me happy, too. If you are visiting Jeju with family, or coming for a gathering or company dinner, make sure to visit before 4 p.m. and try the Jeju black pork set!!
