Orot Silbi (오롯실비) is the third location from the Orot brand, known for the Gyeongui Line Forest Park, and I was excited even before visiting because it’s a casual izakaya where you can comfortably enjoy a wide range of Japanese dishes!

Six consecutive years in the Blue Ribbon. Orot Silbi is a stylish casual izakaya right in front of Gongdeok Station, known for its fresh Japanese dishes and chilled drinks.

Orot Silbi near Gongdeok Station: location and atmosphere

Orot Silbi interior with soft lighting

Not only was the atmosphere stylish, but the food was also neat and refined—I had such a lovely drink in a properly polished setting! Soft lighting and Japanese-style music made it just right for a date or a small get-together with friends. There is also a rooftop area on the fourth floor, which looked great for enjoying a drink outdoors in pleasant weather like this.

Suntory Premium Malt’s

My favorite drink these days is draft beer!! A glass of Suntory Premium Malt’s draft beer that cooled me right down to my core went so well with everything—the smooth finish, the savory fried food, and the beer’s crisp freshness were such a perfect match.

The uni samhap I ordered at Orot Silbi

Uni samhap (₩43,000) Today, I ordered Orot Silbi’s popular uni samhap for ₩43,000!

Uni, sweet shrimp, and negitoro components

Fresh uni, chewy sweet shrimp, and savory minced tuna were beautifully arranged together on one plate!

Uni samhap ingredients served with gamtae

I placed uni, sweet shrimp, and negitoro (minced fatty tuna with scallion) on a sheet of fragrant gamtae (Korean seaweed), added a little wasabi, wrapped it up, and took a bite!

The moment it hit my mouth, the richness of the sweet shrimp and the ocean aroma of the uni spread through it. There wasn’t a hint of fishiness—it just melted away so smoothly.

They even fried the sweet-shrimp heads until crisp, making them wonderfully savory and just right as a beer snack.

I also ordered the fried chicken cartilage, freshly fried to a beautiful golden color! With every bite, the crunchy coating and the delightfully crisp-chewy texture of the cartilage made it such an addictive little dish to keep reaching for.
