Sutonggol restaurant with self-serve bar and kids' room: Boksakkot

One of the famous places to visit in Daejeon is Sutonggol. 👍 I went to a restaurant near Sutonggol that's super popular with Daejeon locals for its full-course, delicious meal.

The big Sutonggol parking lot — why it's great for groups

Located in Sutonggol, Daejeon, this place has a large parking lot, so anyone driving can park comfortably, and it's a popular spot for group gatherings.

This place is known as a webfoot octopus spot, and it has a great-value set menu ready. A set menu at an octopus restaurant??!!

You check the menu and order by tablet. Staff bring out the basic side dishes, and if you want more, you can freely grab extras from the self-serve bar.

With kids? There's a kids' room

Since many families visit, there's a kids' room to make things a bit more comfortable. It's not huge, but it's just right for small children.

What's at the self-serve bar

At the self-serve bar, besides the basic side dishes, you can pick from a variety of soft drinks to enjoy freely.

Because you can help yourself freely at the self-serve bar, it's popular for group gatherings, and a lot of older guests come here too.

The side dishes are tasty and pair well with the stir-fried octopus, making the meal even better. I ate some japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) while waiting for the octopus.

You can get ice cream by writing a Naver review or by purchasing it. One review per table gets you delicious ice cream to enjoy at the café.

The set: starting with salad and mukbap

My favorite kind of salad arrived. Eating it with the dressing makes it even tastier — a perfect basic match for octopus.

Then came the cool mukbap (chilled acorn jelly noodles). Since the octopus is spicy, eating it alongside the mukbap balances things perfectly.

Choose one of two fire-grilled pizzas

One of the menu items included in the set is this pizza. Fire-grilled and served hot, you can choose between two kinds.

And on top of that!! You get to choose between gorgonzola pizza and pepperoni pizza — there's a reason this place is famous.

They also give you honey to dip it in, and eating it warm is seriously amazing!! If you like handmade fire-grilled pizza, you'll love this.

Jjuchipa and rice balls

Pasta topped with octopus and cheese has its own menu name: jjuchipa. I'd never seen this combination before, but it seemed like it would work well, so I tried it.

A rice ball, an essential part of the set menu. It comes piled high with roasted seaweed flakes and topped with finely chopped pickled radish.

Using disposable gloves, you mix it all together by hand, and a delicious companion to the octopus is complete.

The octopus came already stir-fried, and since the cheese needed to melt, I waited over low heat for it to melt.

After a bite or two, it was spicy, so I added the bean sprout side dish and stir-fried it together.

Trying the spicy pasta together with the octopus answered my curiosity about whether it would work — it did.

The first reason the restaurant is spacious and full of groups became clear. It's delicious, and the variety of dishes in the set fills you right up.

Because the octopus is so delicious, many customers take the pizza home too. Kind enough to pack it up for you!!

The octopus was full of smoky char flavor, and the sauce was so good that eating it with the rice ball made everything even more harmonious. Generous portions too, you can really feel the hospitality.

Where to get coffee after the meal?

After eating well, you can order coffee at the in-house café located next to the register by the entrance. One drink per person!!

You do need to take it out, though. Usually places like this only offer americano, and even that's often from a machine, but here a staff member pours the coffee by hand for you.

And it's not just americano — vanilla latte, caffe mocha, and other basic menu items are all available too. There's a reason this place is so popular in Boksagol.

After finishing your meal, you can't drink the coffee or eat the ice cream inside the restaurant, but you can take them to the café right next door and spend time there. 🍴 And they even have snacks you can eat inside!! Where else do you find a place like this!! It's the best spot around!!!!!
