Mokdong ramen shop with tamagobap and Earl Grey milk tea: Gyedan Ramen
In short
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a tonkotsu ramen restaurant on the basement level of a shopping complex on Mokdong-seo-ro, near Omokgyo Station in Yangcheon, Seoul. The writer came with her noodle-loving son, ordered the motsu ramen topped with fried pork intestines and asked for the broth extra rich, finished the soup with tamagobap (egg rice), and ended the meal with a handmade Earl Grey milk tea. Between the 3 hours of free parking and that milk tea finish, Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch was a Mokdong ramen meal her son fully approved of.

My son, who absolutely loves noodle dishes, recently sent me a link to Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch, saying, "Mom, this place is supposed to be really good, want to go together?" It wasn't far from home, and it was a great chance to try some delicious ramen, so we headed there right away, excited!

How is the broth made at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch?
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a deeply flavorful tonkotsu ramen restaurant that uses broth simmered in-house with pork bones and chicken for a whopping 14 hours or more.

Choosing your broth strength at Gyedan Ramen
If you ask the owner to adjust the richness of the broth separately, they'll accommodate your preference — and since we wanted to really taste the deep flavor, we of course asked for it "rich"!
Gyedan Ramen or Motsu Ramen: what's the difference?
- Gyedan Ramen: A deeply flavorful tonkotsu ramen that sticks to the basics.
- Motsu Ramen: The same ramen with crispy, savory fried pork intestines added for maximum flavor.
Both dishes are loaded with crunchy wood ear mushrooms, tender char siu pork, and savory egg — the only difference is whether or not it has the 'fried pork intestines.'

The owner's 3 tips for tasting the ramen three ways
We also ordered tamagobap (egg rice), which pairs perfectly with the leftover broth. The owner kindly explained that to really appreciate Gyedan Ramen, you should experience it through 3 stages of changing flavor.

- Stage 1 (Base broth): When the ramen first arrives, taste the rich, savory pure tonkotsu broth simmered for 14 hours.
- Stage 2 (Secret sauce): Add the spicy secret sauce on the table to enjoy a second wave of sharp, tingling flavor.
- Stage 3 (Rice mixed in): Mix rice into the remaining broth for a soft, thick gukbap-style finish!
How to get the free bowl of rice
We ordered tamagobap separately, but you don't have to order it separately — a small bowl of rice is offered as a service if you request it, so if you'd like some, just ask the owner.
Handmade Earl Grey milk tea at a ramen shop
Looking at the menu, it said 'Earl Grey Milk Tea strongly recommended'! Milk tea at a ramen shop seemed a bit odd, but I ordered it lightly, thinking it'd be a nice palate cleanser.

It was a twist better than expected. I took a sip without much expectation and... whoa?! It was so much richer and more flavorful than what you'd get at a specialty café.
It was so good I asked the owner if they made it themselves, and they said a friend who runs a café formally taught them the know-how, and they brew it with as much care as the ramen broth itself! I highly recommend it for a clean finish to the meal.
Is there parking at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch?
The shopping complex where Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is located offers 3 hours of free parking for visitors. Be sure to tell the staff your car number when you pay and ask them to register it for parking.

Frequently asked questions
Q1. Is the tonkotsu broth too greasy or salty?
Simmered together for over 14 hours with chicken and pork bones, it's deep and savory but clean, and you can request the richness to your liking so it suits your palate perfectly.
Q2. Do the fried pork intestines in the Motsu Ramen smell gamey?
They're fried until savory, crispy on the outside and chewy inside, with no off smell at all. Adding a bit of the spicy secret sauce makes them even more appealing.
Q3. How do I register my car for parking?
If you use the shopping complex's parking lot, you can get 3 hours free — just ask the staff to register your car number after your meal.
