Miok Kalguksu in Namak: is there a wait before 6 pm?

I'd heard Miok Kalguksu in Namak has a wait, so I was a bit worried, but arriving around 5:40 pm, we got seated right away with no waiting.

I was looking up good restaurants in Namak and Miok Kalguksu kept coming up as popular, so I went to check it out myself.💫 Not long after we sat down, though, customers started streaming in one after another. 👀 There were families and groups of friends too, so the crowd was really mixed in age.

Grandmas, grandpas, middle-aged folks, students, even babies — it was kind of funny lol. Seeing such a mixed crowd made me think this must be a place with broad appeal, and I got excited before the food even arrived haha 🤤

Miok Kalguksu accepts child meal cards

They don't charge children or teens in need for meals. Places like this deserve to blow up!! ✨ Blessings to the owner for doing such good work ♥️

How clean is Miok Kalguksu?

Miok Kalguksu was the kind of place that covers everything, even the utensil holders and the extra plates. The container holding spoons and chopsticks had a lid, and the extra side plates had their own separate cover too.

Seeing them cover even the tableware and side plates customers use directly, so no dust gets on them — this kind of small detail actually stuck with me the most.🥺

I went with my kid, and they had kids' tableware, a bib, and a high chair ready, so it was totally hassle-free to visit as a family.

What we ordered: Miok Kalguksu, Chogye Kalguksu and Okdak Sonmandu

We ordered Miok Kalguksu for ₩10,000, Miok Chogye Kalguksu for ₩12,000, and Okdak Sonmandu for ₩4,000.

I was excited for Miok Kalguksu since it's noodles made in-house with added chicken broth, and since a summer kalguksu felt unfamiliar to me, I also ordered the chogye kalguksu (chilled chicken broth noodles).

Geotjeori kimchi made fresh every morning

When I go to a kalguksu place, the kimchi is the first thing I judge, and here the kimchi was really~ good! The reason is they make geotjeori fresh every morning‼️

The owner must be so busy.. but anyway!! Thanks to that effort, one sip of broth followed by a bite of kimchi paired so well that my hand kept reaching for it between bites of noodles. And it's all domestic ingredients too‼️

Miok Kalguksu, 10,000 won: rich chicken broth and chewy noodles

Of everything I ate, Miok Kalguksu was my favorite.✨ I usually love warm soups, and the rich chicken broth with chewy noodles really suited my taste. There was plenty of chicken too, so one bowl left me full. It was also nice that the flavor didn't stay the same from start to finish❣️

Four ways to eat one bowl of Miok Kalguksu

With Miok Kalguksu, you can eat one bowl four different ways — plain broth, with perilla oil and perilla seeds, with spicy sauce, and finished with sticky rice.

☝🏻 First, try the warm chicken broth plain,

✌🏻 partway through, add perilla oil and perilla seeds for a nutty flavor,

🤟🏻 then add the spicy sauce for a whole different taste.

And at the end, there's even a way to finish with sticky rice, so you can enjoy one bowl in four different ways.

I personally liked the warm broth by itself best, but I also loved being able to switch things up along the way.👍🏻

Miok Chogye Kalguksu, 12,000 won: cold chicken noodle soup

Miok Chogye Kalguksu felt totally different from the regular Miok Kalguksu.🥶🧊 It's served cold, so it was refreshing, and the tangy flavor added on top made it feel great for a hot day.

At first I tried the chilled broth and noodles plain, then added the sauce that came with it to change things up — once the sauce went in, it turned tangy and a bit more intense.

Even though it's the same kalguksu, the feel changes depending on how you eat it, so it was easy to adjust bit by bit to your taste.

Okdak Sonmandu, 4,000 won: dumplings wrapped in chicken skin

The name Okdak Sonmandu was a bit unusual — it's dumpling filling wrapped in chicken skin and fried. The outside was crispy and the inside was full of moist dumpling filling, so it felt clearly different from a regular dumpling. Dipped lightly in soy sauce it was delicious, and it made a great side when kalguksu alone wasn't quite enough.✨

Visiting Miok Kalguksu with a toddler

When going to a restaurant with a kid, food aside, I always check for things like a high chair or kids' tableware first, and Miok Kalguksu had all of that ready, which made it easy. Plus, there's a Naver receipt review event where you can get marble ice cream.🍦

Getting a marble ice cream after the meal seemed like a small but genuinely nice touch for families visiting with kids.

Parking and restrooms at Miok Kalguksu

For parking at Miok Kalguksu, we used the public parking lots near the restaurant. Roadside parking near the shop was also fine.

The restroom is in the building's shopping arcade, and the password is written above the umbrella stand at the entrance, so just check it when you need it. ⚠️I blurred the password just in case — check it when you visit the store👀

Is Miok Kalguksu in Namak worth a meal?

Of everything I tried, the warm chicken broth with chewy noodles in Miok Kalguksu suited my taste best. The kimchi was great too, and being able to eat one menu item in several different ways meant the flavor never felt monotonous through the whole bowl.

What I liked most was seeing them cover even the utensil holders and extra plates, keeping the place clean everywhere — it made me feel good about the hygiene throughout the meal..💗

My husband, kid, and I all ate comfortably together, and I think I'll come back to Miok Kalguksu next time I'm craving warm kalguksu in Namak. Office workers in Namak looking for a clean, satisfying lunch might want to keep this one in mind too.🍀
