Korean restaurant near Yeonsan Station, Busan: solo octopus bibimbap
In short
Sinseon Myeonga is a Korean restaurant near Yeonsan Station in Yeonje, Busan, serving fresh handmade noodle kalguksu alongside rice dishes. Eating alone at an early hour before an evening training session, the writer ordered the octopus bibimbap with a bossam (boiled pork wrap) sampler, which arrived as about 6 thick slices with a garlic sauce that stood out. Even for a spice-shy eater the octopus bibimbap was not spicy, so Sinseon Myeonga works well for a filling solo meal.

Sinseon Myeonga near Yeonsan Station: eating alone before an evening class
Sinseon Myeonga is a Korean restaurant near Yeonsan Station in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan, serving fresh handmade noodles and rice dishes. I've got evening training in Yeonsan-dong starting today.
Since it was the first day, I headed out a bit early — knowing I'd be way too late for dinner once training ended, I stopped by Sinseon Myeonga near Yeonsan Station to eat something filling first 😊

I hear this place is packed at lunchtime with office workers and locals alike. Lucky for me, going during the early dinner hours meant no wait at all!

Sinseon Myeonga near Yeonsan Station has a varied lineup — all kinds of noodle dishes, rice dishes, and even evening drinking-food menus.

The place was really clean and comfortable, with a bright, cheerful vibe! Even during the early dinner hour, delivery orders kept coming in.

Fresh handmade noodles and blended rice at Sinseon Myeonga
Sinseon Myeonga insists on fresh handmade noodles and uses a blend of rice varieties, so right from the ingredients themselves, it felt like a cut above. I got the strong sense that nothing here is thrown together carelessly — every noodle, every grain of rice, is carefully selected by exacting standards.

Ordering the octopus bibimbap and bossam sampler set
The fresh kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) both looked delicious, but since it was dinner and I wanted something filling, I went with the octopus bibimbap + bossam sampler set.

Aw, the illustrations were so cute and charming 😆 While waiting for the food after ordering, I read through the notices posted on the table.

Sikhye, mini yakgwa and the complimentary sundae
Near the entrance of Sinseon Myeonga, they'd thoughtfully set out sikhye and mini yakgwa as post-meal dessert. Seeing this level of care for the little details made me trust that just as much care and love goes into the food and ingredients too!

They said you can get 6 steamed dumplings if you take part in the receipt review event!
I don't personally eat sundae, but this is a real treat for anyone who loves it...!! Sundae comes as a complimentary side with any order! From what I've read in other reviews, it's apparently so good people want to order more.

How much bossam comes in the sampler?
The bossam sampler at Sinseon Myeonga comes with about 6 pieces, and they're cut thick too. My octopus bibimbap and bossam sampler arrived together! Since it's a set, the table was really packed full haha.
The bossam sampler comes with about 6 pieces, and it's nothing like those paper-thin slices some places give you. It's sliced thick, just like a proper full bossam order.

Ugh... I really wanted to order more bossam... it was genuinely delicious... In all my restaurant-hopping, I've rarely had a bossam sampler that was truly, seriously good. Unless it's a bossam specialty place, they usually give you dry or overly thin slices where you can barely taste the meat — just meh. But the bossam at Sinseon Myeonga near Yeonsan Station is genuinely good enough that I wanted to order more!! 👍👍

The garlic sauce is the real highlight
It's already tasty wrapped with the dried radish strips, but the garlic sauce that comes with it....!! That's actually insane..!! Total flavor bomb...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dipping generously into the garlic sauce was so good I actually seriously debated it, ㅠㅠㅠ. Ugh... should I order more bossam or not?????
But eating solo... ordering more bossam felt like it would be too much and I'd end up leaving food, which was such a shame... but I promised myself I'd come back for more bossam next time haha.
Is the octopus bibimbap spicy, and how do you mix it?
At Sinseon Myeonga, the bibimbap (mixed rice) and the flame-stir-fried octopus come out separately, so you can control the spice level yourself. You can just dump it all in and mix it, or if you prefer things milder, add the octopus gradually while tasting and adjusting.
Worried it might get too spicy or salty if I added it all at once, I started by mixing in mostly just the octopus chunks — but after tasting it, I realized I could've scraped in everything, sauce and all. So I went ahead and scraped in the rest of the octopus seasoning and mixed it all into the rice.

I'm someone who can't even handle Shin Ramyun, and even by my standards, this wasn't spicy at all! Barely any heat, but full of savory depth, so I cleaned the whole bowl. Maybe it's the good rice, but the vegetables in the bibimbap were also so fresh that every ingredient still had crunch. And the sesame oil used in the bibimbap... they're clearly using a good one, the nuttiness was just....!!

Was Sinseon Myeonga a filling solo meal?
Even eating solo, I got a generous, filling meal made with good ingredients at Sinseon Myeonga near Yeonsan Station. It's a place I'd love to come back to and work my way through the rest of the menu 😊👍
