Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal: an easy walk from Hapjeong Station
Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Seogyo-dong, near Hapjeong Station. I was searching for good restaurants near Hapjeong Station and just wanted some good meat, so I stopped by! There are so many good restaurants near Hapjeong Station that it's always hard to decide where to go, but this place is really close to the station, so it was super easy to find!! Great for getting there by public transport, and a perfect spot to set up a meetup nearby haha.

Is Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal good for a group dinner?
It looked like quite a few celebrities have visited Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal haha.
The space was spacious and the seats were comfortable, so there was no discomfort while eating, and the seating was set up nicely for group dinners haha. Actually there was a group dinner going on right next to us... Oh, and all the staff were so kind and friendly, which made the meal even more enjoyable haha. May this place thrive!!!!

Side dishes at Ijjok: seasoned bean sprouts and shredded green onion
The basic side dishes are bean sprouts and green onion shreds - plus a tip for eating the meat deliciously!! Eating the spicy-sweet green onion shreds and crunchy bean sprout salad along with the meat cut through the greasiness perfectly and made every bite delicious.

Is the 2-3 person set enough for two people?
Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal has a lot of menu items, but what I ordered was the 2-3 person set! It came with steamed egg and doenjang stew, which was really nice. It wasn't lacking at all, and it was plenty for two of us to eat!! Of course, I ended up eating the fried rice and bibim guksu too...

And then the meat I ordered came out - you can see the quality of the meat, right?

Grilling pork belly and whole pork jowl with kimchi on the grill
Putting the pork belly and whole gullet meat on the grill! If they're not too busy, the owner grills it for you.
Grilled to such a nice golden brown, right?!

They grill napa cabbage kimchi and bean sprouts together on one side of the grill, and kimchi fried in the meat fat is genuinely incredible ㅜㅜ Yeah, you absolutely have to grill kimchi together when eating meat... Once the meat is fully cooked, they plate it up like this! The visuals are no joke ㅠㅠ
How are the doenjang stew and steamed egg?
Right when I needed some broth, the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) showed up!
It's loaded with tofu, onion, and other ingredients

The steamed egg came out too, and it was super fluffy and delicious. The seasoning was spot on!

Why the whole pork jowl stood out most
The pork belly was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with the juices locked in so every bite was savory ㅠㅠ There was zero gamey smell, so it was really enjoyable to eat. It's delicious plain, but wrapping a piece of the whole gullet meat in well-cooked kimchi and eating it with the green onion shreds made the umami explode ✨✨

The top one is pork belly, the bottom one is the whole gullet meat. The pork belly was thick and delicious too, but my friend and I found the whole gullet meat absolutely amazing ㅠㅠ I thought a bigger cut like that would be tough, but it wasn't tough at all - such a plump, delicious texture ㅠㅠ

Looking at the photos makes me want to eat it again ㅠㅠ The whole gullet meat might be the best I've had in Hapjeong!!!! Next time I might just order that alone haha.

Can you see how thick the pork belly is ,, thick but such great quality that every bite was savory and so delicious 🤤

Bibim guksu free with the receipt review event
Do a receipt review event and you can get bibim guksu too!!

The sauce was so good that wrapping it with meat was perfect ㅠㅠ

Finishing the meal with kimchi fried rice
Can you eat meat without fried rice at the end ,,
Finishing with perfect carbs is truly a Korean's dessert, right? After finishing the spicy stew and all the meat, we cleared the finale perfectly too - fried rice made from the leftover meat and kimchi on the grill, finely chopped and fried!!! Seriously ate every last bit ,,,

Maybe because it's fresh pork belly, the meat quality was excellent and so delicious, plus the whole gullet meat that surprised me!! The finishing fried rice was really good too ㅠㅠ Highly recommend this place if you're having a group dinner near Hapjeong or just want to eat great meat!!!
