Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Eel Daejeon Direct Store — recommended as a freshwater eel restaurant

Today I'm sharing my review of Songrimbok Jangeo Daejeon Direct Store, known as a top eel restaurant in Jijok-dong, Daejeon. It's a place where you can enjoy freshwater eel all-you-can-eat, haha^^
It's great because you can taste fresh eel, and you also get grilled chicken neck meat and pork belly, so the spread is good and the value for money is excellent. Let me jump right into the review. GO!!

Songrimbok is a place where you can enjoy unlimited freshwater eel for ₩29,900. They said they bring in live eel every morning, prepped fresh from eel farms and wholesale markets. The eel quality was really impressive because of that^^

There's a dedicated parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so you can park comfortably before visiting, and it's free for 2 hours — worth noting:)

A 200-seat restaurant — is it okay to bring kids?
The interior had lots of tables and was really spacious. It's a large restaurant that can seat 200 people, and the tables were spaced generously apart, making it a great place to eat with family.

The space was also divided into sections, which looked good for group gatherings or work dinners too.

Plenty of baby chairs were on hand too^^
The dining time is set at 2 hours. They also sell takeout, and 650g trimmed for ₩35,000 is really good value, haha.
They're also running a receipt review event, so join in and get the perk:)
Unlimited refill price and self-bar spread
At Songrimbok, unlimited refills for adults are ₩29,900 plus a ₩3,000 table setting fee! Even so, it's good enough value that you'd still call it a great deal — fresh eel, plus grilled chicken neck meat and pork belly, all in the spread.

The self-bar was also neatly arranged. Just take as many extra side dishes as you'll actually eat^^
Basic side dishes are set at the table, but vegetables, garlic, chili peppers and sauces are all self-serve at the bar.

Eel and chicken neck meat are also at the self-bar, so you can just grab them freely. Unfortunately, there was no pork belly on the day we visited.

The basic side dishes set out were pickled perilla leaves, seasoned green onion, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), pickled onion, and ginger — and the bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) was... complimentary!!!! Haha!
The unlimited refill price was already good, and I thought the eel was great too... but then getting bokbunja wine on top of it as a free perk... You have to visit this place! You won't regret it:D

Grilling and tasting the freshwater eel
They brought the eel and chicken neck meat over on a plate. The freshwater eel quality was so good!! The pieces were big and thick, and cut nicely for grilling.
I hurried to put the eel and chicken neck meat on the grill^^ You need to grill it skin-side down first~
The freshwater eel and chicken neck meat browning nicely~ Just grill both sides well and you're done.

It was well prepped and fresh, with no fishy smell at all. It was thick with a great chewy texture, and mild and savory — satisfying from the very first batch.

There's also teriyaki sauce, so enjoy it however you like^^

The grilled chicken neck meat comes sprinkled with pepper. It was fresh with no gamey smell either, and eating it alternately with the eel meant you never got tired of either one.

Once you finish a batch, you can just grab more yourself and keep eating comfortably^^ Unlimited refill places can be a hassle when you have to ring a bell to order more, but at Songrimbok there was no need for that at all — really convenient.

I made sure to enjoy every drop of the complimentary bokbunja wine too^^ It pairs so well with eel, haha.
Overall thoughts after visiting with a 4-year-old
Songrimbok Jangeo unlimited eel — a well-known spot in Jijok-dong, Daejeon. As you'd expect from a proper eel restaurant, the quality was really impressive^^ It was satisfying enough that I'd want to bring my parents along next time. We visited with our 4-year-old, and even though it's not on the menu, a bowl of rice could be ordered for her. She doesn't usually eat eel well, but once I grilled the meat for her, she ate it up. If you're looking for a great eel restaurant in Daejeon, I recommend Songrimbok♥
