A Bupyeong Market Station galbi restaurant I have remembered for years

This time, I visited Nocheongol Bupyeong Main Branch (노천골 부평본점), a well-known restaurant near Bupyeong Market Station that has held its spot for a really long time. It also happens to be a place full of old memories for me~

I had been coming here since high school, so it was even lovelier to be back! It closed for a few years in the middle, then reopened, and it is such a famous local favorite that practically everyone in the neighborhood knows it. Coming back after so long felt really special~

As you would expect from a popular restaurant, you can join the waitlist through Catchtable. I made a reservation ahead of time because I was visiting with my mom~

The interior was neatly kept, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal!

Pocheon-style Idong galbi and restaurant facilities
Looking at the menu, everything looked delicious! Familiar flavors really are irresistible, haha. We ordered two servings of Pocheon-style Idong galbi~!

They also sold Heineken and Guinness draft beer, and the beer machine looked so interesting that I took a photo of it too~

The meat-aging refrigerator was placed where customers could see it right as they came and went~

There is also a machine for mix coffee to drink after your meal~

They say charcoal-grilled meat pairs nicely with whisky too~ Since last month, they have been offering three whiskies: Maker's Mark, Bowmore 12 Year Old, and Balvenie DoubleWood 12. You can order by the glass and enjoy them neat or on the rocks, so it seems like a nice pairing for whisky beginners and enthusiasts alike!

I also spotted a UNICEF Crew plaque by the register. It seemed the owner supports good causes too, and that somehow made me happy! Eating at Nocheongol means joining in a good deed, right?!

Pocheon-style Idong galbi grilled by the staff
At Nocheongol, they recommend enjoying their signature dishes like a course meal~

We started with Pocheon Idong galbi, which is marinated for 48 hours in a soy sauce-based seasoning with natural fruit.

Even the galbi served with the banchan (Korean side dishes) looked so appetizing.

The staff member grilled the galbi so beautifully that I could feel the craft in every moment I watched~ The care in those hands was so obvious that my mom said she wanted to leave a tip!! The grilling service at Nocheongol Bupyeong Main Branch was truly top-notch.

They placed each perfectly cooked piece onto our plates. Saying, “Thank you for the meal,” I tried the first bite just as it was, without anything alongside it! The seasoning was not overly sweet and blended beautifully with the meat. I thought, ah, there really is a reason this Bupyeong meat restaurant has been loved for so long!

I was curious about the green sauce, so I tried it too~ It is made by mixing seaweed, wasabi, and flying fish roe. With the galbi, it gave the meat a different character, and I found myself reaching for it again and again~

Finishing with pork galbi and doenjang jjigae
We were thoroughly enjoying our two servings of Pocheon Idong galbi when my mom said she wanted to try the pork galbi too~ So we added pork galbi and ordered doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)!
The staff member cooked the pork galbi deliciously too, and it definitely had a charm distinct from the beef galbi. The tender pork was well infused with seasoning, and this was unbelievably delicious as well~!

After the meat, doenjang jjigae and rice made for an even heartier finish~ The beef was delicious, the pork was delicious... My mom and I finished our meal so satisfied, saying we had done well to return to this truly local Bupyeong favorite after so long! If you are looking for a longtime favorite near Bupyeong Market Station, do stop by Nocheongol. The care of having the staff grill it for you made it taste even better. I hope this helps anyone looking for a comfortable Bupyeong meat restaurant to visit with their mom or family, like I was! We ate so well at this neighborhood living-room kind of place~!
