Inside the restaurant: family dinners and solo meals in Cheomdan

The restaurant is on the larger side with plenty of tables, so it looked like a fine choice for a family meal out or a group gathering. The tables were also spaced out generously, so I could eat comfortably without worrying much about the next table over.

There were also kids' chairs available, so it seemed like a good spot to visit with children too. I saw quite a few people dining solo, so it also seems like a decent option if you're looking for a solo meal in Cheomdan.

What's at the self-serve bar? (Side dishes are self-serve)

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu also had a well-stocked self-serve bar. Basic side dishes aren't brought to the table — instead you help yourself to as much as you need from the bar. The self-serve bar had lettuce wraps, pickled radish, and kimchi.

There was also warm soup and broth to add to your meal as you liked. They even had aprons and kids' tableware, which felt like a thoughtful touch.

I also liked that there was a dedicated self-packing station. Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu's portions are generally very generous, so you might end up with leftovers — but since you can pack up the leftovers yourself, it made ordering feel more worry-free.

Menu and prices: udon set 13,900 won, kimchi nabe 11,900 won

Here's the menu at Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu. It's not just pork cutlets — there was a range of dishes to pair with it, like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles), kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), udon, and naengmyeon (cold noodles). If you're visiting with a group, it seems like a good idea to order the cutlet alongside some of these other dishes.

You order via the tablet at the table. What I ordered was the Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu + udon set for ₩13,900 and the Jinsim Donkkaseu Kimchi Nabe for ₩11,900!

Before the meal, they brought out side dishes and soup first, and the soup was smooth and savory — it gave off that classic old-school Western-style cutlet restaurant vibe. It was nice to have something light to eat before the cutlet arrived.

The food was brought over by a serving robot, which was honestly fun to watch too.

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu says it uses certified domestic 1st-grade chilled pork loin, and that its aging process is what gives the cutlets their soft texture, made in an authentic handmade Western-style method. The sauce is also said to be a special handmade sauce made using fresh fruit.

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu + udon set, 13,900 won

The pork cutlet was classic Western-style: crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. If you don't like the crispiness getting soggy from the sauce, you can ask for the sauce on the side when ordering — worth keeping in mind.

With one bite, the breading shattered crisply and you could feel the soft, clean taste of the loin underneath.

I was surprised the moment I saw the size. True to its name, the cutlet really was huge. I took a photo next to my hand for comparison, and you could really tell how big it was.

It also paired well with the sweet, mild cutlet sauce.

Wrapping the cutlet in lettuce also worked well and tasted great.

The udon that came with the set had a warm, deep broth that cleanly cut through the richness of the cutlet. The noodles were thick and chewy, and there was fish cake in there too, which made it filling. Taking a bite of crispy cutlet followed by a sip of hot udon broth was a great combo.

Jinsim Donkkaseu Kimchi Nabe, 11,900 won

The Jinsim Donkkaseu Kimchi Nabe was a great menu choice for when you want to enjoy pork cutlet in a slightly different way. The cutlet was fully submerged in a spicy yet clean-tasting kimchi nabe broth, giving it a totally different appeal from the regular cutlet.

The cutlet, having soaked up the broth, was even more moist and tender.

Eating the spicy kimchi and soft egg together with the cutlet was a great combo, and I kept going back for more.

Is Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan worth it for two?

The two of us ate together, and the portions were generous enough to leave us completely full, with great value for the price. It seemed like a lot of nearby office workers come by during lunchtime too. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Cheomdan, give Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan a try~!
