Mapo brunch restaurant for aged-kimchi risotto: HEOD Gongdeok
In short
HEOD Gongdeok is a Western-style brunch restaurant by Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul. Five friends ordered the four-person gnocchi set and especially loved the aged-kimchi risotto, chicken mashed potatoes, and fruit French toast. Verdict: a great stop before or after a park walk.

HEOD has locations in Hapjeong and Yeonnam, and now it has opened in my neighborhood, Gongdeok too!

My friends and I had been meaning to go, so we finally visited☆ As soon as the opening news came out, the girls who are obsessed with a good vibe had already made plans. Guys, include me too—I’ll write the blog post!
HEOD Gongdeok, perfect before or after a Gyeongui Line Forest Park walk
It is right on Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so it is such a nice place for a walk before or after eating! It is closer to Daeheung Station than Gongdeok Station, but being on the park path makes the location absolutely perfect~

(It was dark when I went in the evening, so I substituted an official exterior photo.) ★Open year-round★ ⏰ Hours Daily 11:00–21:00 Break time 15:30–17:00 Last order 19:50 ✅ 50% discount for military personnel ✅ Cake & lettering on your birthday
There were so many events like these. There is a juice discount too, and it seems like a lovely place for an anniversary♡

A cute but spacious interior
The name is HEOD! It is decorated with a cute, charming feel, but the styling is so good. And the interior is cute yet spacious!! It looks great for groups, couples, and families too.

The interior was pretty too🍀 Bright lighting, nice and clean. The table behind us was on a blind date. It had that Western-restaurant(?) kind of mood, so it seemed good for a blind date—and actually there was something about blind dates written there to begin with..

With the floor-to-ceiling windows, the daylight would probably be wonderful if you came during the day! Eating breakfast while looking out at Gyeongui Line Forest Park = #leisurely

There are bar seats too, so I thought it would be nice to casually pop in alone for brunch in the morning.

What we ordered in the four-person gnocchi set
The set menus are seriously varied, with lots of different combinations and even lots of events~ All the events are written on the menu, so there is no chance of missing them! I do not think there is any chance you will not be able to get what you want in a set, haha.

~ Four-person gnocchi set ~ Fig fruit French toast Kabocha whipped-cream gnocchi Chicken mashed potatoes Tomato shrimp oil pasta Aged-kimchi risotto 1 grapefruit ade, 1 maesil plum ade, 2 green tangerine ades That is what we ordered by QR code~ I enthusiastically recommend the menu items below, haha.

The ades came in pretty glasses! You could bite into bits of fruit juice? pulp? They were rich and delicious. My picks are green tangerine and grapefruit.

The food arrived. The staff had such great sense too! They were incredibly kind😇 We had a hard time ordering because everyone wanted so many things! But it was a happy dilemma~

We wondered if we had ordered too much, but..! Everything was spread out generously, and all five of us were ready to eat!!!

Aged-kimchi risotto and chicken mashed potatoes: recommended
The portions were generous in general, the shrimp was big, and the cream and sauces all went together so well. Pasta feels like something you can get anywhere, but the risotto and chicken mashed potatoes have that cream-and-aged-kimchi kick, so they are flavors you can only have here!!!! I recommend them~

Fruit French toast that we raved about even while full
The gnocchi was soft, and French toast with ice cream is just unfair.. Everyone raved while eating the toast!! Even though we were already full!

My friends’ favorite picks were!! Aged-kimchi risotto Chicken mashed potatoes And. Then. Unanimously: Fruit French toast We were happily eating the toast thinking, mmm, delicious~ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is the real deal for French toast;;; The fruit changes with the seasons too, which seems great. Please, you absolutely have to try it.

My personal top picks were the aged-kimchi risotto (you absolutely have to eat it in one bite with the aged kimchi) and the fruit French toast. I hope this place stays in business for a long, long time.. It makes me want to come back and work my way through the whole menu. Next time I should come for brunch during brunch time. Guys, let’s head out again!
