In short
Yangnam Yanghwa is a lamb barbecue restaurant in Mullae, Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, where staff grill lamb at the bar counter. I tried three cuts over the two-hour seating, added another platter, and found the meat had almost no gamy smell that day; book ahead for busy Friday evenings.

Can I visit without a reservation on Friday evening?
I went to Yangnam Yanghwa (양남양화) to eat lamb in Mullae. The first time, I arrived without a reservation on a Friday evening, but it was full, so I had to leave without eating. I visited again after making a reservation. For busy times such as Friday evenings or weekends, I would recommend reserving in advance.

What is the staff-grilled seating like?
The seating was arranged as a bar counter, so I could watch the staff grill the meat up close. Since I did not have to grill it myself, the conversation did not stop while I was tending to the meat, and I could eat comfortably as each cut was served.

The seating time is limited to two hours. At first, I wondered whether that would be too short, but the staff grilled each cut in sequence, so my meal continued at an unhurried pace. After sirloin, tenderloin, and rib meat, there was an option to have more.
How were the table settings and drinks?
A welcome drink was prepared before the meal. I started with a light drink, and the basic table settings were laid out for my reserved visit.

One of the sauces was mint sauce. The side dishes were refreshing between bites of lamb, and I could try the meat with different sauces.

After I ordered, a brazier was placed in front of my seat.

That day, I also ordered a Yantai Highball. Taking a sip alongside the meat felt like it cleared the flavors left in my mouth.

How did the sirloin, tenderloin, and rib meat differ?
The Premium Lamb Dining meal I had came in the order of sirloin, tenderloin, and rib meat. The staff grilled each cut while explaining its characteristics and how best to eat it. The meat I had that day had almost no gamy smell, and each cut had a different texture and flavor.

The sirloin was mild and tender.

The tenderloin felt moister than the sirloin, and its clean flavor stayed with me.

The final rib meat had a moderate amount of fat, becoming nuttier as I chewed.

I could dip each cut into sauces to suit my taste. The same meat felt different depending on the sauce I paired it with.

How filling was the meal with vegetables and extra meat?
The staff then grilled tomatoes, king oyster mushrooms, eggplant, and green onions. Cooked on the grill where the lamb had been grilled, the vegetables took on a subtle lamb flavor.

The browned king oyster mushrooms and onions also tasted good with the lamb flavor infused into them.

I added another platter of meat. After trying the three cuts in order and then having the additional meat, I was able to finish the meal feeling full.

How was the seafood ramen at the end?
At the end, I had haemul ramyeon (spicy seafood ramen). I was already quite full, but its warm, spicy broth suited the end of a meal with meat and drinks. After finishing both the broth and noodles, I felt satisfied.

Is group dining available?
Yangnam Yanghwa also had an annex. Group meals are possible there, so I thought it could work well for a company dinner or gathering.
