Gangnam Seoul Korean BBQ with assorted beef: Woosang Hwarogui
In short
Woosang Hwarogui is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Maebong Station in Gangnam, Seoul. We had the Sang Assorted Platter and doenjang sulbap in a semi-curtained room, then walked along Yangjaecheon. Verdict: a lovely date-night meal for trying several beef cuts.

Woosang Hwarogui (우상화로구이) is one of my usual favorite spots for beef barbecue—we liked it enough to visit both the Yeouido and Balsan Station branches with my boyfriend 🤎 This time, we went to the Gangnam Maebong Station branch! ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡)
A semi-curtained-room beef meal near Maebong Station
It is near Exit 4 of Maebong Station. The restaurant feels clean yet upscale, with a variety of seating: private rooms, semi-curtained rooms, and tables in the main dining area.
We reserved a two-person semi-curtained room through Naver and visited. They had set everything up neatly with a reserved-table sign, so I was happy from the moment we walked in, haha. The curtains lightly divide the space and block the view from the next table to a degree, making it just perfect for the two of us to talk over dinner.. 🤍

Ordering the Sang Assorted Platter and doenjang sulbap
The menu includes the Woo Assorted Platter at ₩119,000 (chamjinsal 130g + angeomisal 130g + beef tongue 150g + gadak galbi 150g + a mound of scallions and assorted vegetables), the Sang Assorted Platter at ₩85,000 (chamjinsal 130g + angeomisal 130g + gadak galbi 150g + assorted grilled vegetables + a mound of scallions), individual cuts, sides, and lunch specials. We ordered the Sang Assorted Platter for ₩85,000, doenjang sulbap for ₩11,000, and soju for ₩5,000.

After a short wait, the side dishes that go so nicely with the meat were set out. Since the flavor of the beef itself matters, I liked that these were designed to cut through richness rather than being overly strong. One of Woosang Hwarogui's best touches is the thick, warm hand towels they bring out!! 🫶

When you order alcohol, they also give you a hovenia stick like this 🥹

From chamjinsal to gadak galbi: the order we ate them in
Finally, the Sang Assorted Platter arrived! Each cut was arranged beautifully, and the generous assortment of vegetables was so nice to eat alongside the meat 💗 They recommended eating the cuts in this order: chamjinsal, angeomisal, then gadak galbi 😋 It also came with a mound of scallions; it was great to mix them up, put some on our small plates, and eat them with the beef 💚

How we ate the chamjinsal
Chamjinsal is said to be a prized cut from the upper rib area, and its marbling looked delicious even before grilling 💓 We lightly cooked it over the fire and took our first bite with salt and wasabi—it was tender, nutty, and clean-tasting... 🥹 It is a great cut for medium-rare, and it went sooo well with the scallions too!!

The texture of angeomisal and gadak galbi
Next was angeomisal! It had a totally different feel from the chamjinsal: a little chewier, with a deeper beefy aroma. Seriously delicious.. 💖

Lastly, gadak galbi! It is said to be one of Woosang Hwarogui's signature dishes: a rib cut with the bone removed and only the meat sliced long. It had more texture and juiciness than the other cuts 🤎 Beef can get rich quickly when you eat a lot of it, but having several cuts meant we could keep enjoying different flavors. The charcoal heat also stayed steady right to the end, so it was easy to grill comfortably while talking 🔥

Doenjang sulbap and the reservation-service soy sauce rice
The doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice soup) was a pleasantly spicy style packed with beef brisket, tofu, and zucchini. Lightly mash the tofu, then mix it with the rice tucked inside and it is seriously.. seriously.. seriously delicious. I already love doenjang sulbap, but I scraped this bowl completely clean, haha. Pleaseee order it,,,

This is the egg-yolk soy sauce rice they give as a service with a Naver reservation! 💛 While eating the meat, just top the rice with some gat kimchi (mustard-leaf kimchi) now and then and eat..
For dessert, they gave us yellow and blue Excellent ice cream 💛🩵 They asked, “Would you like salt, pepper, and olive oil on it?” and of course I said yes!!

They poured on lots of olive oil, and it was sooo good. My boyfriend loved it too, so we decided to make it this way sometimes,, 🍦

A date route that continues to Yangjaecheon
After eating, a stroll along Yangjaecheon, a 10-minute walk away, makes the date route perfect.. 💗 Woosang Hwarogui has good-quality beef, but the atmosphere is also upscale and the staff are kind, so every visit feels like being looked after,, ✨ It would be perfect not only for dates, but also for gatherings or an important meal!
Especially, the Sang Assorted Platter is a setup that lets two people enjoy a good variety of cuts, so it is the menu I would recommend if you are visiting as a pair ദ്ദി(•̀ᴗ•́ )✧ In nice autumn weather, it would be absolutely lovely to welcome the season with delicious beef followed by a walk at Yangjaecheon 🍂🤎 I would recommend it to anyone looking for a date or gathering spot near Maebong Station or Yangjaecheon 🫶😽🫶
