After getting back from overseas, I was craving spicy, warming Korean food so badly. My boyfriend and I headed to Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal (양푼이김치찌개&삼겹살), near Gaenari Park in Dongtan. The delicious smell was already making us hungry when we arrived. As soon as we opened the door, that rich kimchi aroma hit us.
Location and basics

The banner saying they use Korean cabbage and top-grade Korean pork felt reassuring. Looking at the country-of-origin notice by the entrance, I felt I could enjoy the meal with confidence.
Atmosphere and table spacing

Inside, the lighting gave the restaurant a cozy, clean atmosphere. The softly lit space felt welcoming. Delivery drivers also kept coming in to pick up takeaway orders.

The tables were nicely spaced apart, making it great for conversation. I think it would be a good choice for company dinners or family meals, too.

You can order from the tablet at your table. After wondering what to get, we ordered the pork belly kimchi-jjim set.
Pork belly kimchi-jjim set Pork belly kimchi-jjim + rolled omelet + 2 bowls of rice ₩28,000
The kimchi-jjim set was ₩28,000. With both rice and rolled omelet included, it was plenty for the two of us.

The basic side dishes were shredded dried radish and braised black beans, plus seaweed flakes to mix into the rice. They were simple but appetite-whetting sides, and you could feel the care put into them.

The rolled omelet arrived first after we ordered. The perfect partner for balancing the spice of the kimchi-jjim~

It looked wonderfully thick, with ketchup on the side. Since it had just come off the grill, its warmth came through beautifully.

The cross-section showed just how thick the rolled omelet was. Eaten with the kimchi-jjim, it was such a rice thief~

Then the kimchi-jjim arrived in a big pot. I got sooo hungry! It comes already simmered, so you can eat it right away.

As soon as I took a spoonful, a clean spice and deep savoriness filled my mouth. The kimchi-jjim had just the right warming level of heat. It was not overly intense, so I could enjoy it comfortably without worrying about my stomach.

Isn't the portion huge? The pot was generously filled with ingredients. I was touched by the generous serving—you could feel the owner's big-heartedness~

I picked up some tofu and kimchi with my chopsticks. The strands of well-cooked kimchi were still intact, which made me really look forward to the texture. Kimchi's distinctive tang paired with the rich meat flavor, making me reach for more and more.

There were also big, appetizing chunks of meat, and it felt like they had not held back on the ingredients. Mixing rice into the spicy broth was pure bliss~

There were six pieces of tofu too, so we split them nicely between us haha.

The rice was black rice, and I liked that it felt healthier than plain white rice.

It felt like eating a home-cooked meal. Mixing the black rice into the kimchi-jjim broth was absolutely delicious.

The owner and staff were all so kind, which made for a very pleasant meal. The people at the next table were enjoying their samgyeopsal (pork belly), so I think I will try that next time. Delivery orders kept coming in and there were quite a few customers picking up takeaway too, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great delivery spot~
