Late-visit fruit mochi ranking at Tareudang, Gyeongju: kiwi vs
In short
Tareudang is a takeout fruit mochi and fruit sando dessert shop tucked in the alleys of Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. Visiting late meant no line, but only three flavors were left — pineapple, mango, and gold kiwi — and among these kiwi came out on top, with pineapple and mango tying for second. The takeaway: go early if you want a specific flavor.

What is Tareudang, on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju
This place is called Gyeongju's Hanjeongseon! I've been obsessed with fruit mochi lately, so I checked it out — here's my review of 'Tareudang' on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju.
Tareudang is a takeout-only shop located inside Hwangnidang-gil. Park at the public parking lot and it's about a 10-minute walk. I hear Gyeongju bakery-hopping is trendy these days, and Tareudang is definitely a must-stop.
Outside the shop

True to Gyeongju style, the shop itself is small and cute. Don't head down the main road — turn into the alley and you'll spot it right away. It's usually a line-up-and-wait kind of place, but since I arrived late, luckily there was no one around and I could order right away.

Because I arrived late, I got in without any wait. Just know there usually is a line. But going as late as I did cuts both ways — you skip the wait, but the mochi you want might be gone. Almost everything was sold out, with only 3 flavors left. Timing is everything here.

Tareudang, a must-eat dessert spot on Hwangnidang-gil! They sell all kinds of desserts — fruit sando (fruit sandwiches), egg tarts, and more. It's not just tourists who love this place; locals swear by it too. Once you try it, you'll be back for more.
Tareudang menu and prices

- Fresh chocolate ₩6,000
- Peach yogurt ₩7,000
- Mango yogurt ₩7,500
- Fig yogurt ₩5,500
- Pineapple ₩5,500
- Gold kiwi ₩5,500
The prices might look steep, but once you try one or see the size, you'll get it right away. And the flavor really doesn't let you escape, haha. Plus, buy 4 or more and get ₩500 off!

There are other menu items worth checking too. They also have egg tarts, cheesecake, and butter rice cake, but sadly the butter rice cake was sold out. The dessert lineup seems to change often, which might actually be part of the charm — a seasonal menu means I'm curious what will be on offer next trip.

You can check remaining stock through the glass window. It was such a shame that other flavors were gone — I really wanted the chocolate and peach ones, but by the time I got there, they were already sold out. If you want them, go early! I heard peach is the best-seller, and I'm still dying to try it. I'll make sure to next time.
Packaging and tasting the 3 fruit mochi flavors

They're packed snugly together. Since the shop follows a same-day-made, same-day-sold policy, freshness goes without saying! Each piece was wrapped in paper and then wrapped again in plastic inside, which felt clean and hygienic too.

Pineapple
This is the pineapple one. Packed full of pineapple inside — you really have to eat it in one bite for the full effect! The pineapple chunks were big, and the texture was great.

Mango yogurt
This is the mango one. The combination of yogurt and mango was so good. You might think it'd be too sweet, but the fruit-yogurt pairing balances it out, making it easy to eat without feeling heavy.

Gold kiwi
This is the kiwi one. The combination of cream and kiwi was amazing. The photo might look a bit messy, but I promise the taste is worth it. You have to try this one!
My honest flavor ranking: kiwi > pineapple = mango. I was curious about the other flavors, but since they were sold out, I could only try what was left. Next time I'm definitely trying the peach and chocolate ones!

Is it good as a gift too?
The packaging is neat and would make a great gift. Turnover is quick too, so you likely won't wait long. There's plenty else to eat in Gyeongju, but Tareudang, a Hwangnidang-gil must-eat spot, is definitely worth stopping by. You won't regret it! Highly recommended for anyone who loves dessert and fruit mochi.
