Hyehwa window-seat omurice at Omil, a Jongno restaurant
In short
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a Western-style restaurant in Jongno, Seoul, near Hyehwa Station. We had rubber-duck omurice, steak, and a free pineapple ade from the receipt-review event at a window table. Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a lovely pick for food, atmosphere, and fun visuals all at once.

Omil, which is so popular in Hongdae for its adorable rubber-duck omurice, has finally opened in Hyehwa too, so I visited with such excitement. The flavor, atmosphere, and irresistibly cute presentation I remembered from the Hongdae branch were all here!

Can you see the cute, tiny door right from the entrance? Haha.
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno Near Hyehwa Station

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno (오밀 혜화 대학로) is right near Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station. I would recommend it for everything from before or after a performance or play in Daehangno, to a date with friends or a partner, or a family meal.

Omil Hyehwa is on the second floor. It is even more spacious than the Hongdae branch, and when we arrived around 6, there was thankfully(?) no wait—perhaps the word had not gotten out yet. Haha. But as we ate, the seats gradually began filling up... We got in at just the right time!

There were two of us, and we sat by the window. It was the perfect spot for looking outside and watching people go by. Haha. They also give you a free drink for a Naver receipt review, so we made the most of that too—see below for more details! You order by scanning a QR tag. It felt very high-tech, but it was neither difficult nor inconvenient; ordering on the phone was simple. It was a whole different world from a kiosk. Haha.

The restaurant is this tidy and utterly adorable. The soft lighting and every little corner are filled with cute decor! Pickles, water, tissues, and more are self-service, so help yourself as much as you like!
Omil Menu and Ordering

Omil has a set menu for two, and quite a few à la carte choices too, including its famous rubber-duck omurice and steak pasta. There is also a wide selection of drinks, from ades to highballs, so you can choose whatever you fancy.

After much deliberation(?) haha, we ordered the Rubber Duck Omurice (₩16,900) and Omil Steak (₩37,900), as usual. There were so many delicious-looking things that choosing only two was... so hard. ^^
How the Rubber Duck Omurice and Omil Steak Tasted

Ta-da! This is the Rubber Duck Omurice, one of the signature dishes. The omurice itself is cute enough to melt over, but the tiny quail eggs and rubber-duck decoration are so pretty that it almost feels too precious to eat!

Next up is the Omil Steak. Ahh! The food here tastes great, of course, but the presentation is genuinely so appetizing and impressive too... Doesn't it look incredibly delicious? But once you take a bite... you realize the visuals are far from everything. Every dish and ingredient shines on its own!

The rich yet bright, sweet-and-tangy sauce on the omurice really wakes up your appetite. There is a swirled egg on the rice, along with quail eggs with all different expressions, haha. I hated to eat it... but taking a big spoonful is pure bliss! It is a fantastic combination with crisp, tangy pickles rather than soft ones. And of course, those decorations—especially the rubber duck—are gifts provided by Omil. I was delighted, and the elementary-school-aged child who came with me absolutely loved it too.

The steak itself is very clean-tasting and tender. Have it with Omil's special sauce and those crisp shishito peppers, and there is no heaviness at all—you can really enjoy the steak properly! And those fries, with crispy bacon and some kind of white sauce? I do not know what it was, but it was so sweet and addictive that I kept reaching for them even when I was full...
Receipt-Review Event Pineapple Ade

And this is the pineapple ade we received through the review event. I picked it without much thought while wondering what to choose, but it came in such a lovely bottle! The moment we saw it, both my elementary-school-aged child and I went, “Wow~~” at once. Haha. The sweet pineapple ade was refreshing too, the kind of drink that makes the summer heat disappear in a flash. I do not usually drink much soda, but this went down so easily!

Omil, known in Hyehwa for pasta, omurice, and steak, makes every menu item so charmingly cute, while the flavors are also excellent—honestly, there is nothing to fault. I have visited the Hongdae branch too, but the Hyehwa branch felt much more spacious and relaxed. The tables are nicely spaced as well, making it ideal for chatting over a meal with friends or family... If you are in Daehangno to see a play, it would be perfect to have a delicious meal here and make a date of it. Instead of struggling to hunt down restaurants here and there, visit Omil Hyehwa and enjoy the visuals, atmosphere, and flavors all at once. ^^
