Hyehwa restaurant with sizzling cheese cutlet: Omil
In short
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a Western-style restaurant in Jongno, Seoul. After a Daehangno theater date, I tried rubber-duck omurice, sizzling cheese cutlet, truffle fries, and fun ades. Verdict: a charming pick for dates or meals with children.

Finding Omil from Hyehwa Station
Omil is just a short walk straight ahead from Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station. There is a cute rubber-duck omurice poster on the building, so it is easy to spot! It is their signature menu.

There are cute posters outside and on the stairs up, too. Omil! A cute pale-yellow door welcomes you, and honestly, from this point I already felt a little like I was at an amusement park. Haha.
Inside Omil, like a tiny amusement park

From the entrance through the dining room, it is full of adorable little decorations, so it really feels like walking into a tiny amusement park. Haha. The colorful, bright interior is lovely in itself, and the staff kindly looked after every little thing from the moment we entered until we left, so I felt very comfortable.
The restaurant is clean and spacious, too! Groups are welcome, and there is terrace seating. Since the sun was still out, we sat at a table for two, but once the sun goes down, or in the evening, sitting side by side on the terrace and looking outside while eating would be such a nice atmosphere.

There is an indoor restroom and high chairs, so I think it would be great to come with children after looking around Hyehwa or Daehangno.
There is also a self-service bar where you can pick up side plates, cups, and cabbage and cucumber pickles. I brought some over, and the pickles were tasty, too!
What we ordered

There were so many menu choices that I wondered what to get, but I was especially curious about the signature dishes, so we ordered the rubber-duck omurice, sizzling cheese cutlet, and truffle fries. Rubber-duck omurice—I was so curious!

If you write a Naver receipt review or Google Maps review, they give you one drink from cherry, pineapple, or basil and tomato ade!
Rubber-duck omurice and sizzling cheese cutlet

First up, trotting right over, was the rubber-duck omurice! I could tell from the name that it would be cute, but when I saw it in person, wow! Haha. The quail egg made into a little chick on top of the tornado-style omurice was seriously... so adorable. I almost did not want to eat it. ㅠㅠ It was cute and delicious. You can take the rubber-duck toy home! Another reason it is nice with children!

The sizzling cheese cutlet arrived making a sizzling sound, just like its name. Then they piled lots of cheese on top...! Wow... it was a performance, and such a treat for both the eyes and the mouth!

When I cut it in half, it was full of cheese inside, too. One bite had all the meat juices and cheese mingling together, and it was so delicious. ㅠㅠ It was large enough to share between two people.
The truffle fries had a gentle truffle aroma, and the fries were crispy, which went so well together. A lovely waft of truffle!

Basil tomato and pineapple ades
I ordered the basil and tomato ade, and the pineapple ade came from the review event. The pineapple ade was so cute. Haha. Does it not look almost like SpongeBob's house? Hahaha.

When you open the lid like this, the ade is inside. Haha. I ate the tomato in the basil tomato ade later, too; it was sweet and refreshing thanks to the basil. The pineapple ade was cute on the outside, but also refreshing and sweet, so it went down so easily.

Here is the full spread! It looks abundant and delicious, right? The plating is adorable and delightfully compact, just like the name Omil, so I think children would love it here. Even as an adult, I could not take my eyes off it. Hahaha. So cute... ㅠㅠ
For Daehangno dates and family meals
I recommend Omil Hyehwa Daehangno for couples having a meal after coming to see a Daehangno performance, as well as for family dining with children. It is also in a convenient location for anyone with errands near Seoul National University Hospital or Sungkyunkwan University.
A staff member explained that they give out a different rubber duck each season. I visited during the summer season and got a rubber duck with an inner tube, and they said that since October was coming soon, visitors in October would receive a Halloween rubber duck. Haha. My boyfriend and I said we could collect these and that we should come back for the Halloween rubber duck. A Halloween rubber duck...!
