Two curries at India Darbar, an Indian restaurant near Sillim Station
In short
India Darbar is an authentic Indian and Nepali restaurant on the second floor of a building a 10-minute walk from Sillim Station in Gwanak, Seoul. Ordering Set C with the rice swapped for naan and one extra curry brought both butter chicken curry and lamb curry to the table, and the naan was so enormous and the curry portions so generous that the leftovers went home in a box. Chefs from India cook everything, so the flavors taste authentic, and a Naver receipt review earns one free naan.

I already love Indian food and grab curry pretty often, so when I heard there was a genuinely authentic Indian and Nepali restaurant near Sillim Station, I ran straight over 🍛✨ The place is called India Darbar.

What India Darbar feels like at 5 p.m. on a weekend
We went to India Darbar around 5pm on a weekend since we wanted an early dinner!

When we first walked in it was quiet and calm, so I thought, "oh, this place is nice and peaceful~" But once peak dinner hour hit, customers kept streaming in 😲!!

And the whole time we were eating, delivery order alerts kept going off nonstop?! Turns out it's a delivery hotspot too...

I bet ordering delivery next time I'm craving curry at home would be amazing too! Also, they have separate lunch and solo-diner menus, so it's a great, zero-pressure pick if you're looking for lunch in Sillim or eating alone.
Ordering Set C at India Darbar and swapping the rice for naan
We ordered India Darbar's Set C! The default Set C comes with the following.
2 soups + 1 tandoori chicken + 1 curry + 1 naan + rice + 2 drinks
But since we both prefer naan over rice, we swapped the rice for naan (small extra charge!) and also added one more curry so we could try two 🔥

First up was the chicken mushroom soup! A good appetite-opener before the main meal.

Tandoori chicken: mildly spicy and a little sweet, not hot
Next came the tandoori chicken! It's boneless chicken marinated in various spices and fermented milk, skewered and roasted in a tandoor (clay oven). The fiery red color had me worried it'd be spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all — just the right sweet-and-savory kick!
The outside was lightly browned and the spice aroma really came through (not off-putting at all — familiar and delicious!). Not dry at all, really moist, so dipping it in the sauce was excellent, and wrapped in naan with curry on top, it's the best... My friend, who was trying tandoori chicken for the first time, loved it too.

They set the curry plate over a candle warmer, so it stays piping hot until the end!

Butter chicken curry, the crowd-pleaser of the two curries
The first curry was butter chicken curry! It's the most popular, universally-loved Indian curry, so I had to order it — and it did not disappoint! Mellow, rich flavor makes it perfect for dipping naan. The chicken was plump and moist too, a foolproof main.

Lamb curry: how gamey does the mutton actually taste?
The second curry was lamb curry! This was my first time trying lamb curry here. Since it is lamb, beginners might notice a slight "is that a gamey smell?" moment, but it's absolutely nowhere near overpowering! It's nutty and full of flavor, and I really enjoyed it 🐑
Each curry portion was genuinely huge, so after eating our fill, we still packed up the leftovers to take home ✌️

How big is the naan, and how the free-naan receipt review works
Don't be shocked by the size of India Darbar's naan... it's absolutely massive haha. We ordered two and they filled the whole table! It's tasty plain, and perfect for dipping in curry or wrapping around tandoori chicken...❤️
💡 Here's the big tip! Write a Naver receipt review and you get a free naan!! Naan is delicious dipped in curry or wrapped around chicken, so I'd definitely recommend joining this event and getting one!!
Honestly, if there are two of you, one naan might be plenty, so getting a free one from the receipt review and adding a cool, refreshing lassi at the end is a combo I highly recommend 🥤💛

India Darbar had a local chef cooking everything, keeping the authentic flavors intact, and the space was clean too — we left very satisfied! If you're craving curry near Sillim, be sure to grab that receipt review event too! 😋🍛
