These days the evenings are getting a little cooler, which is the perfect time for eating outdoors. Especially from now on, I keep thinking about plump raw shrimp grilled with a beer — so this time I went to "Veteran General Fish Market" in Gu-wol-dong near Incheon City Hall!

From outdoor tables to a spacious indoor hall and even a room-style space, this place has it all. We ordered 600g of raw shrimp grilled, and the shrimp were plump and fresh — really delicious.

We asked separately for 2 shrimp to be served raw as sashimi, and they were thick and super fresh. At the end we even added a shrimp head grill to finish things off properly. Veteran General Fish Market is located in Gu-wol-dong, near Incheon City Hall.

The store was bigger than I expected, and as soon as we walked in, I noticed the variety of seating. We visited around 7pm on a Sunday, and the outdoor tables were already full ㅠㅠㅠ

As the evenings get cooler like this, the outdoor tables definitely seem more popular. If you want to eat raw shrimp grilled outside, I'd recommend visiting a little early!! ★

Outdoor seating in Gu-wol-dong, perfect for this weather

Personally, the space that caught my eye most at Veteran General Fish Market was the outdoor seating.

Sitting at an outdoor table on a cool evening with grilled shrimp and a drink sounded like it would set the mood perfectly. When we visited, the outdoor seats were full so we sat inside, but next time I definitely want to come back on a nice day and eat at an outdoor table ㅜ_ㅜ///....!!!

Now that raw shrimp season is here, this is a solid pick for anyone looking for outdoor seafood spots in Gu-wol-dong or Incheon.

A spacious indoor hall and room-style seating too

Beyond the outdoor tables, the indoor space was also quite spacious.

There were various tables set up, and further inside there was also a room-style seating space.

It's great to visit for the outdoor atmosphere, but if there's no seating available or you'd rather eat more comfortably, the indoor tables work well too. The store itself is on the larger side, so it's worth keeping in mind for family seafood outings or larger groups.

Self-serve bar and DIY kimchi pancake

Veteran General Fish Market also served solid side dishes.

On one side of the store there was a self-serve bar where you could grab whatever side dishes you wanted.

What was especially fun was that there was a separate station where you could make your own kimchi pancake!

It's a nice little something to nibble before the main shrimp dish arrives, and there was fun to be had frying it yourself.

Having this kind of self-serve corner set up meant we could comfortably grab whatever side dishes we needed.

Ordering the raw shrimp grilled, 600g

The main dish we ordered that day was 600g of raw shrimp grilled. The shrimp were plump all around and looked delicious just from their appearance. When looking for a good grilled shrimp spot in Gu-wol-dong, the condition of the shrimp is obviously the most important thing.

Eating it myself, the shrimp were plump and fresh — very satisfying.

With two of us eating the grilled shrimp and then adding the shrimp head grill at the end, it was a great combination to enjoy together.

2 shrimp as raw sashimi

We ordered the raw shrimp grilled, but before grilling we asked separately for 2 shrimp to be served raw as sashimi. This turned out to be surprisingly delicious - !!

The shrimp were incredibly fresh and thick, so eating them raw really let you feel the texture properly. If you like raw shrimp, it's worth asking whether it's possible when you order and trying a few raw. Eating the raw sashimi first made me appreciate just how fresh the shrimp were.

Plump, well-grilled raw shrimp

We enjoyed the rest of the shrimp grilled properly. Since the shrimp were on the plump side, there was still plenty of meat left even after being cooked.

In-season raw shrimp are delicious even without any fancy preparation, just grilled >_<!!

Shrimp head butter grill, +₩3,000

While eating the shrimp, we set the heads aside instead of throwing them away. At Veteran General Fish Market, if you gather up the leftover shrimp heads and ask, they'll grill them for you for an extra ₩3,000.

It always feels like a waste to throw away the shrimp heads after eating grilled shrimp, so being able to enjoy them one more time as a final snack was great. If you're ordering shrimp, I'd recommend not throwing away the heads and saving them up.

The shrimp head grill that came out at the end was crispy and made for the perfect finishing dish. They also served it with two kinds of sauce, so you could dip according to your taste. We were fairly full by then, but it was a light, perfect snack to pick at with a beer, and we ate it happily to the last bite. Starting with raw shrimp grilled and finishing with the shrimp head grill, it felt like we really got the full shrimp experience.

Above all, the raw shrimp we had that day were plump and fresh, which was really satisfying. We ate 2 raw as sashimi, enjoyed the rest grilled, then gathered the heads and added ₩3,000 for a shrimp head grill finish — it felt like a full course.
