Looking for an outdoor-seating raw fish restaurant in Namdong, I went with my family on a weekend for a rare meal out at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch. It's located if you just keep walking down from Incheon City Hall's Aedeul Square — about a 5-minute walk.

Unlimited-refill kimchi pancake made with a secret batter

That chewiness didn't feel like ordinary pancake flour. I asked out of curiosity for the recipe, but they wouldn't tell me — it's a secret. That only made me more curious, haha.

Ramen noodles are also unlimited refill. Lettuce and perilla leaves for wrapping the sashimi, plus old kimchi and other side dishes, are self-serve refill too. Apparently flounder + perilla leaf is a popular combo these days.

The basic side dishes were set out right away — the standard 5 side dishes that come with sashimi orders: hoe-muchim (spicy mixed raw fish), pollock roe salad, old kimchi, seaweed, and a salad. What kinds of sashimi came out

Wow, there was genuinely so much;; A generous variety of popular sashimi types came piled high — flounder, flounder fin, salmon, mullet, and rockfish, all together.

And the sushi that came alongside it. A full 10 pieces of sushi — isn't this basically a whole sushi order on its own? Sushi à la carte alone costs ₩15,000, so this Namdong outdoor-seating raw fish spot, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch, really gives you a generous portion.

Crispy king shrimp, sweet potato, and pumpkin fritters came out standing up beautifully, whoa. Oh, and not pictured, but a whole grilled saury also came with it. There was so much to eat.

With such good side dishes for drinking, of course I had a glass of soju. Ahh~ drinking is bad for you, but I believe a few drops are fine.

Finishing with fish stew

I was already very full from the sashimi... but you can't leave a raw fish restaurant without the spicy fish stew.

Why is it that spicy stew at raw fish restaurants is always so good? A spicy broth-based fish bone stew came out.

Look how deep this pot is;; A seriously deep pot of stew came out, brimming full. If I hadn't been so full I would've added the ramen noodles too, but I was so stuffed I could only manage about half a bowl of rice. Why does the human stomach have limits...?

The stew bubbled away, getting richer in flavor the longer it simmered. Green onion, radish, crown daisy — all added generously, no holding back.

They also sell Jeolla-style makhoe (rough-cut raw fish), so I've already made plans to come back with friends next time.
