Hawaiian bacon BBQ burger with pretzel bun swap: Daily Fix Gangnam

In short

Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch is a Korean beef patty burger restaurant with a New York diner vibe in the heart of Gangnam, Seoul. On a return visit, the writer swapped the bun on the Hawaiian Bacon BBQ Burger for a pretzel bun and paired it with 18mm fries, homemade coleslaw, and an Oreo shake. Pineapple kept cutting through the rich beef patty and bacon so the burger never felt heavy by the last bite.

I love burgers, so I end up hunting down a lot of hand-crafted burger spots — but this is one of the rare places I keep coming back to, trying different menu items each time. This time I revisited Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch. Daily Fix is also famous for the bacon cheeseburger that Davichi's Kang Min-kyung raved about, so a lot of people search for it as either a Gangnam burger spot or a "Kang Min-kyung recommended" spot.

A cool day with the windows open

The weather had cooled down by the time of this visit, and they had the windows open! With the windows wide open, outside air came through and the space felt so much more open — and on cool days like this, eating with the windows open just feels good, doesn't it? Even though it's indoor seating, it had a bit of that terrace-dining feeling, so I think it'd be even better on a nice-weather day.

Interior with a New York diner atmosphere

Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch is a burger restaurant right in the middle of Gangnam with a New York diner feel 👏 They use 100% Korean beef patties and pay close attention to every ingredient that goes into the burgers, including house-made bacon and pastrami — definitely a different league from your typical franchise burger.

This time I chose the Hawaiian Bacon BBQ Burger.

And through a Naver receipt review event, I also got to try the coleslaw.

And this time shakes were also available to order, so I picked the Oreo shake!!!

Oreo shake and Zero Coke

Daily Fix Oreo shake

The sweet, thick shake with the distinct Oreo cookie flavor was great to sip like dessert after the burger, and it was amazing with fries too haha. If you like sweet drinks, I'd really recommend the Oreo shake. I'll probably order it again next visit :)

Zero Coke ordered alongside the shake

A soda is essential alongside the shake, so I ordered a Zero Coke too~! The fact that soda refills are free is such a plus!!!!

Homemade coleslaw — why I liked the regular one better

Homemade coleslaw with cabbage and carrot

The coleslaw is house-made with a special mayo-based sauce, cabbage, onion, and carrot, and because it's made in-house the vegetables weren't soggy at all — nice and crunchy. Mayo-based so it's savory, but the fresh crunch of cabbage and onion still comes through, making it great to eat in between bites of burger.

Last time I had the spicy coleslaw, but personally I thought the regular coleslaw was tastier.

Coleslaw served alongside burger and fries

Especially when you're eating burger and fries together, things can get a bit heavy midway — but a bite of coleslaw cleans your palate right up. Burger + fries + coleslaw turned out to be a better combo than I expected. If you're doing the Naver receipt review, it's worth checking the event details too.

The 18mm Fries were my favorite of this visit

Thick-cut 18mm fries

Surprisingly, my personal favorite item this visit was the 18mm Fries. I'm not usually a big fries person, but thick-cut fries like this are so good... At 18mm they're noticeably thicker than regular fries — crisp on the outside, fluffy potato texture on the inside. A completely different charm from thin, crispy French fries.

Biting in, that crisp outer coating followed by the fluffy potato inside was just so good. If you're ordering a burger, I'd recommend the 18mm Fries as your side. After trying these, I think I'll order them again whenever I come back to Daily Fix!!!!

This burger has a 100% Korean beef patty, house-made bacon, pineapple, frilled iceberg lettuce, and a secret BBQ sauce.

And this time again I swapped it for the pretzel bun. Ever since I first tried the pretzel bun at Daily Fix, I switch to it every so often haha. The chewy, slightly salty bun pairs really well with the thick patty >_< As befits a Hawaiian burger, there's pineapple in it, so the flavor is a bit different from a typical bacon burger — first you get the heavy meaty flavor of the beef patty and the salty, savory taste of the house-made bacon, then the pineapple comes in midway to finish things off sweet and tangy.

A bite taken out of the Hawaiian Bacon BBQ Burger

Add in the sweet-and-savory BBQ sauce, and the flavor combination worked better than I expected. Burgers with just meat and bacon can start to feel a bit heavy after a while, but the pineapple kept refreshing the flavor along the way, so it never got tiring by the last bite. If you're into Hawaiian pizza or dishes with pineapple, this burger will probably be right up your alley too.

What I loved about coming back

Daily Fix was great the first time I visited, but there's also a special kind of fun in coming back and trying something different. Everything on the menu is good haha. With the cool weather and the windows open, the atmosphere felt even better this visit 🤍 A real favorite spot, I think, is one you want to go back to — not just visit once. I had the Hawaiian burger this time, so next time I'll pick something else ><
