Gangnam Chinese restaurant for spicy laziji: Sinbok Myeongwan

Sinbok Myeongwan is just a one-minute walk from Exit 1 of Gangnam Station, so it’s super close to the station! It’s on B1 of Prugio City Central Avenue.

From solo seats to group tables

I couldn’t photograph it because it was full, but there’s a larger space on the left with mostly two-person tables. On the right, there are separate group tables like these, plus window-side seats for solo diners ෆ I came to eat alone too, so anywhere with solo seats is the best!

Ordering laziji and xiaolongbao

Shall we take a good look through the menu first? 🫶🏻 Everything looked so good that I agonized for ages, then ordered xiaolongbao, which I absolutely love, and laziji because I was craving something spicy!

I loved how varied the menu was: beef knife-cut noodles, dim sum, fried rice, rice bowls, all sorts of fried dishes, stir-fries, and cold appetizers 🙊 ෆ Next time, I need to try the beef knife-cut noodles too!

First, three little side dishes! There were pickled dishes including zhacai, along with salty, nutty fried peanuts, and once you start picking at them, they disappear in no time haha.

Ta-da~~~~ Freshly fried laziji and piping-hot, juicy xiaolongbao have arrived ,, ✨✨ I was already sooo happy with how generous it all looked 🤤🤤

Crisp, fiery laziji

This right here is laziji!! I was deciding between kkanpunggi and laziji, but while lots of Chinese restaurants sell kkanpunggi, places serving laziji are surprisingly harder to find, so I went with laziji haha. Both are fried chicken dishes, but kkanpunggi is more tangy, spicy, and sweet, while laziji is less sweet, spicy, and salty! 🥵🧡

Xiaolongbao bursting with broth

And this little one is xiaolongbao 🤍 Xiaolongbao absolutely bursting with broth ,, 🤤🫶🏻 I really love dim sum. And among them, xiaolongbao is something I crave regularly .. So delicious!!!

I took a bite of the laziji first! Fried food is always at its best the second it comes out, right? I couldn’t resist .. a big bite before it cooled down 😋😋😋

It was so crisp and spicy, seriously delicious ,, Can you see all those chilies!! I love spicy food, so I enjoyed it so much, but it could be very hot for anyone who can’t handle spice. I kept eating while going huff huff haha. The addictive factor is insane ,,

Pile on lots of red chili and onion, then take a bite with the fried chicken!! The gentle sweetness of the onion, the chili heat, and the crisp fried chicken are such an incredible combination .. This addictive spicy-salty combo would be absolutely perfect with beer ,, 🤤🥵❤️🔥

Next, the xiaolongbao ..🤍 Hot broth came rushing out through the torn dumpling wrapper ,, Before I spilled any more, straight into my mouth~~~~!!

Ahh, everyone, this is xiaolongbao perfection itself—bursting with broth and unbelievably savory ,, Seriously soooo good!!! The combination of hot broth and moist meat filling is just fantastic ,, If you love dim sum, please make sure to try Sinbok Myeongwan’s xiaolongbao 🥺🫶🏻🧡

From crisp, fiery spicy laziji to xiaolongbao that bursts with broth in your mouth ,, I went alone to Sinbok Myeongwan and cleared every last piece of fried chicken and dumpling ✨
