Gangdong Korean restaurant for a meal with a baby: Boseung Hoegwan

In short

Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch is a Korean restaurant near Cheonho Station in Gangdong, Seoul. I visited with my 19-month-old baby on a weekend for samgyetang and hangjeong suyuk-gukbap; the spacious dining room and high chair made the meal easy, though the rear parking lot was full.

I was in the Cheonho area on the weekend for an errand and ate at Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch (보승회관 천호역점) with my 19-month-old baby. I chose it with food we could share with the child, a high chair, and enough space in mind.

Is it close to Cheonho Station, and is parking available?

The restaurant is close to Cheonho Station, so getting there with my child did not feel too burdensome. The address is Unit 1, 1F, 654 Olympic-ro, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

We drove that day, but the parking lot behind the building was already full. We parked nearby and walked over, which was not particularly inconvenient. If driving on a weekend, I felt it would be good to check the parking situation in advance.

Is there space and a high chair for dining with a baby?

Once inside, the restaurant was more spacious and airy than I had expected. A cramped space can be uncomfortable when looking after a child during a meal, but we were able to eat with relatively plenty of room that day.

High chairs were available, so it was easy to seat my 19-month-old and eat. I also saw quite a few other guests visiting with children at the time.

What did we order, and how was it?

We ordered samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and the hangjeong suyuk-gukbap Special (rice soup with boiled pork jowl). We considered both food for the adults and dishes we could give the baby in small portions.

Of the dishes served that day, I gave the baby small amounts of pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork) and the lean meat from the samgyetang. The gukbap felt a little different from the sundae-gukbap I usually eat, and its broth was clean-tasting, so both my husband and I enjoyed it.

Did my 19-month-old eat well?

My baby can be picky about food when dining out, but that day they readily ate the lean samgyetang meat and pyeonyuk. Since the baby ate well, we could enjoy our meal comfortably too.

The spacious room and high chair were helpful, and both the adults and child finished the meal well. Weekend parking was disappointing, but I would like to return if I have another reason to visit the Cheonho area.
