A great pork cutlet spot for dining alone near Gangdong Office Station

I was looking for a tasty place near Gangdong Office Station where I could dine alone, and it had been a while since I craved pork cutlets, so I visited Katsu Monster Gangdong Office Branch 🧡

Katsu Monster Gangdong Office Branch, a great pork cutlet spot near Gangdong Office Station, sits directly across from the Gangdong District Office.

Katsu Monster is a Japanese tonkatsu (pork cutlet) specialist! You can have pink-centered pork cutlets that are still full of juice. The menu is displayed out front, so if there is a wait, you can study it while you wait 🤓

Inside, tables surround the kitchen in an open-kitchen layout, so it felt like I could dine with peace of mind when it came to cleanliness :)

Ordering Mixed Katsu A and using the restaurant
Here is the menu at Katsu Monster, a pork cutlet favorite near Gangdong Office Station! There are rosu katsu (loin), hire katsu (tenderloin), cheese katsu, and pork neck katsu, and you can order mixed platters too! Since the pork cutlets are cooked as soon as you order, they take around 10 minutes. There are also noodles such as soba and udon that go nicely with pork cutlets, plus sides, and the draft beers are Terra and Kirin Ichiban! I ordered Mixed Katsu A, with loin and tenderloin 🐽

There are hangers along the wall, which is handy for storing coats or bags, and aprons are available too.

Each table has tonkatsu sauce, salad dressing, utensils, and little bowls for sauce! There is also a guide on how to enjoy it 🧐

Half loin, half tenderloin: tasting the mixed katsu
The water was a wonderfully nutty, barley-tea-like drink! Rice and soup came out first. The soybean paste soup had napa cabbage in it, which gave it a refreshing taste, haha.
Today’s main event: pork cutlets 🫢🩷 They came with shredded cabbage salad, kimchi, mustard, and salt!
The mixed katsu was half loin and half tenderloin, served as 12 thick pieces, so it was quite a lot of food... Pork cutlets that looked crisp outside and tender inside... instant mouthwatering.
They looked absolutely glossy with juices... cooked only to their most delicious point, so the juices were still there and the meat had a slightly rosy color. Tender and delicious pork cutlets.

The rosu katsu (loin) has a little fat, so it was chewy and savory with a great bite! The hire katsu (tenderloin) is a leaner cut, with a clean flavor that never became cloying, and the meat was incredibly tender. Above all, the frying itself was crisp outside and tender inside, with a satisfying crunch when you bit in, so I enjoyed both the loin and tenderloin katsu so much.

Two delicious ways to eat pork cutlets
- Dip lightly in salt
- Mix mild mustard into the sauce, then dip
With salt, you can taste the pork cutlet’s natural flavor more clearly. If you dip it lightly in sauce and add mild mustard, the sweet sauce and sharp kick come together beautifully—such a crowd-pleasing combination!

I poured sauce over the cabbage salad that came with it and ate it alongside the pork cutlets. It was a pleasantly fresh combination, almost like having a pork cutlet salad 🥗
Overall, Katsu Monster near Gangdong Office Station felt like the textbook version of crisp-outside, tender-inside pork cutlets, with absolutely no unpleasant meat smell 👍 If you like Japanese-style pork cutlets, I think you will enjoy it. If you are deciding on lunch near Gangdong District Office or looking for somewhere to dine alone, how about pork cutlets? 😋
