Handmade pie café in Seocho, Seoul for a parent gift box: Saison de
In short
Saison de Pie is a handmade pie dessert café tucked in an alley near Seocho Station in Seoul. Looking for a gift dessert for her parents, the writer picked up four pies — Engadiner pie, pecan pie, apple pie and more — carefully packed so they survived a subway ride of over an hour without shifting. With restrained sweetness and ingredients that actually taste like themselves, it's a solid pick for a grown-up gift dessert.

My parents were coming to visit, so I went looking for a gift dessert to have on hand, and I found this really classy-looking, delicious pie shop in Seocho ෆ so I picked some up◡̈ this is Saison de Pie, a Seocho dessert café.

How close is it to Seocho Station?
Saison de Pie is a very short walk from Seocho Station, tucked away cozily inside an alley — a really nice-atmosphere café ෆ

Actually, my friend already knew this place! It's known as a top dessert spot and coffee shop in Seocho-dong, and apparently she sometimes comes here alone just to enjoy the quiet atmosphere haha

- ⏰Hours: Daily 11:00–20:00 (Mondays 11:00–14:00)
- 🚘Parking: there is a lot right next to the café, but it's a building parking lot so there's no separate support — for a quick pickup like mine, though, it seemed workable enough...!

What's the vibe inside?
Saison de Pie had an overall calm, warm atmosphere ・゚✧ Not a cold, modern-feeling café at all — the wood-tone interior plus the smell of freshly baked pies and cookies filling the space felt so sweet and warm ෆ

I originally went in planning to just pack up desserts for my parents, but once I stepped inside I wanted to order a warm coffee and a freshly baked, crisp pie and just spend some leisurely time there ෆ

The pie scent drifting quietly through the store was really lovely ෆ◡̈ෆ Honestly my favorite smell in the world is a house filled with fresh-baked bread, cookies, pie haha
It's a sweet, happy smell that no artificial diffuser could ever replicate...ෆ It made me think of happy memories baking bread with my mom at home when I was little haha

Seocho café Saison de Pie also has a pretty varied drink menu, so sitting by a sunny window, smelling sweet pie while enjoying a drink and a relaxed chat seemed like such a good way to spend time here ෆ

Pie lineup and the signature
The pie lineup was really varied too,
including pies I'd genuinely never seen before, alongside apple pie, pecan pie — and it seemed like the lineup keeps changing seasonally ෆ

Personally the one I was most curious about was the Engadiner pie. Apparently it's a traditional pie style from the France-Switzerland border region!

The Chocolat Croquant is supposedly Saison de Pie's #1 signature, but since I visited after work it was sold out ㅠㅠ

After agonizing for a really long time, I picked four pies I thought my parents would like ◡̈

Apparently all the baked goods are homemade too
There was such a huge variety of baked goods that I asked the owner about it, and apparently she makes every single one herself, by hand...!

If you're into baking at all, you'll know... baking that many different kinds all by yourself at once is never easy...!
But knowing she bakes all these baked goods and pies herself from the morning made me think — wow, that's amazing... and that's why the bread scent in the store was so good ෆ◡̈ෆ

There are a lot of desserts perfect for a quick simple gift, plus bite-sized desserts that pair well with coffee, so I thought — later I really need to come alone, drink coffee, eat dessert, read a book here, it'd be so healing ෆ

This was a cookie made from pie crust dough, given to me as a free extra, and it was genuinely delicious...! The moment you bite into it you can tell — ah, this is truly a handmade cookie ෆ Since even the free extra was this good, I was so excited even before tasting the actual pies ◡̈

Packaging fee and how well it held up
Since I picked four pies, no packaging fee applied, but apparently there's a fee for packing a single pie, so keep that in mind ෆ
I was actually a bit worried since I had to take the subway, but they packed it so thoughtfully to keep the pies from shifting that it was fine even after more than an hour on the train ◡̈

And even though I didn't ask, they put it in a separate plastic bag to make it easier to carry — that really touched me ෆ

How did the handmade pies taste?
Healthy, fresh ingredients go into Saison de Pie's handmade pies. Overall, these pies felt clearly different from desserts that are just sweet ・゚✧ Maybe because they're truly handmade, each ingredient's flavor really came through, and the overall sweetness wasn't excessive, which my parents liked even more ෆ
Pies piled with whipped cream and tons of sweet toppings are delicious too, of course...!!! But older folks seemed to prefer this feel of good ingredients and care put into the baking ◡̈ෆ

Engadiner pie
Honestly this was a pie I'd never even heard of before, but subtle notes of caramel and butter filled my mouth with a refined sweetness ෆ
The crisp, nutty texture of the crust combined with the soft, rich caramel-and-butter filling made the overall flavor really full-bodied ෆ

The first bite is sweet, but the finish was surprisingly clean, so it stayed delicious bite after bite ෆ

Pecan pie
Pecan pie is common, but precisely because it's so common, it's the one that really separates a good bakery from a great one.
Saison de Pie's pecan pie hit with a nutty aroma right from the first bite ◡̈ And you know how pecans themselves have a natural sweetness? That subtle, soft sweetness of the pecans themselves blended with the nuttiness and butter aroma for a really refined dessert feel ・゚✧
My mom and dad had barely taken one bite of the pecan pie before saying, "They must be using really good ingredients here" — the aroma was that rich ◡̈

Apple pie
And lastly, Saison de Pie's apple pie. Biting in, it wasn't mushy at all — there was still a bit of crunch, and it had that fragrance of well-ripened apple that gets sweeter the more it's baked ෆ

What I especially liked was that the apple wasn't mashed into a purée — it was layered to keep its texture. The outside was baked crisp while the inside stayed soft, which paired really nicely with the apple filling ෆ
Thanks to the apple's sweetness and lively texture, the overall flavor never felt heavy ෆ And since the cinnamon wasn't overpowering, you could still taste the apple's own aroma alongside the pie crust's buttery flavor, so it all felt really layered and varied ・゚✧
Who would I recommend this to?
If you're looking for a coffee shop near Seocho Station and want something more thoughtful and refined than an ordinary dessert, I'd recommend Saison de Pie, a Seocho dessert spot ・゚✧ It's great for enjoying pie and coffee in a quiet, warm atmosphere, and it also suits anyone looking for a gift dessert ෆ Especially if you're trying to figure out a handmade dessert gift for the older folks in your life like I was, this is a Seocho dessert café I'd recommend ෆ◡̈ෆ
