Sweet Park at Shinsegae Gangnam is home to a lot of famous, delicious dessert shops, and among them I went to buy a cake from Chef Cho, a Gangnam cake spot that's even made it onto the Masters of Life (생활의달인) cake 'Big 4' list for fresh-fruit cakes 🤗

Sweet Park at Shinsegae Gangnam always seems to be packed with people whenever I go to buy cake..🫢 Among all the shops, Chef Cho's cakes are the ones that really catch your eye visually 😋

Why Chef Cho's fruit cream cakes are so popular

They have a plaque from Masters of Life's cake 'Big 4,' use 100% dairy whipped cream, and make their cakes with fresh fruit delivered daily, apparently.

Good ingredients aside, the visuals are just so good that these would be great for anniversaries or gifts. A cake that's both tasty and pretty — the person receiving it would be so happy too 😋

They also have a variety of cake slices, so if a whole cake feels like too much, you can try a few different flavors as slices instead 👍

Chef Cho's three whole cakes: prices and how they look

All the cakes looked so pretty and delicious that I had a hard time deciding.. I wanted to try every kind, but I narrowed it down among the three whole cakes.

Fig Pistachio whole cake (No. 1), ₩58,000

A new menu item featuring figs, which are in season right now — they piled the figs on so beautifully and generously, which I loved.

Peach Berry whole cake (No. 1), ₩53,000

A Peach Berry cake topped with both strawberries and peaches — since I love both of those fruits and they were piled on generously, it looked like it would be really tasty.

Real Mango Rose whole cake (No. 1), ₩56,000

A Real Mango Rose cake truly loaded with mango — true to its name, instead of just slicing the mango flat, they shaped it into petals, which looked amazing. With that much mango piled on, it couldn't not be delicious.

Cooler bag packaging at Chef Cho costs ₩3,000

After going back and forth, I picked the Peach Berry cake, and it was packed nicely in a cooler bag when I received it.

You can buy the cooler bag for an extra ₩3,000. Since I needed some travel time, I bought it to bring the cake home safely.

The description says it's a cake house with 20 years of tradition, a premium cake brand that adds sophisticated design and trendy sensibility. Looking at the cake designs, you can immediately see why 👍 Apparently there are 4 locations total, including the Shinsegae Gangnam branch where I bought this.

Cutting the Peach Berry cake at home and how it tasted

Here's the Peach Berry cake, safely brought home 🤗 I went back and forth with the mango one, but I chose this since the peach-strawberry combo is my favorite fruit pairing, and the visuals are so pretty too.

Chef Cho's Peach Berry cake is hard to just casually share.. 🫢 There's so much fruit on top that we had to scoop the fruit off before cutting and dividing it into slices 😋

There's plenty of fruit inside too, not just on top. The cream wasn't heavy at all and was so tasty that we didn't get sick of it.

The strawberries and peaches are fresh fruit delivered daily too, so they were sweet-tart and just right. I ate this with my family, and everyone was so satisfied with it. I'd recommend Chef Cho's cakes, full of fresh, delicious fruit ~ 🤗👍
