Poached-egg fatty pork jjajangmyeon — smoky flavor and layers of pork

Ta-da~ First up was Bueokgan Chinese's poached-egg fatty pork jjajangmyeon! Loaded with fatty pork and topped with a pretty poached egg — the visual alone got me💛

First, I mixed the poached egg in nicely~

This Haeundae Chinese restaurant's poached-egg fatty pork jjajangmyeon lives up to its name — generously loaded with pork belly — and the smoky wok-hei flavor is unmistakable, hitting me the moment I took my first bite. It tasted like it had been stir-fried right over the flame, that smokiness soaked into the whole sauce, and the pork belly had just the right amount of fat — not greasy at all, chewy and savory, truly excellent.

The sauce had just the right thickness, not too thick or too thin, clinging perfectly to the noodles, and the noodles themselves were bouncy and chewy — mixed with that smoky sauce, I polished off the whole bowl without noticing!

Honestly the sauce was so good I mixed rice into it too — not a secret anymore.. This place is apparently also famous for its jjamppong, and if the jjajang is already this good, I couldn't help but be curious about the rest🫶🏻

Beef belly jjamppong rice — pouring rice into the broth

Next up: the beef belly jjamppong rice and the black vinegar tenderloin sweet and sour pork.

This Haeundae restaurant's beef belly jjamppong rice is really packed with beef belly — every spoonful brings up a generous amount of meat, and with each chew you get that savory, juicy flavor along with a really filling feeling!

The broth was fiery yet clean and refreshing on the finish — I thought it could easily work as a hangover cure, and honestly, eating it did make me feel refreshed. The portion of rice was generous too, and I poured it into the broth — as the fiery broth soaked into the rice, I ended up finishing the whole bowl without noticing✨

Black vinegar tenderloin sweet and sour pork — thick tenderloin and tangy-sweet sauce

This Haeundae Chinese restaurant's black vinegar tenderloin sweet and sour pork! Just the generous look of it already says it's delicious..🤎

Cross-section showing the thick tenderloin inside the sweet and sour pork

The black vinegar tenderloin sweet and sour pork came piled high with onions on the plate, great for eating alongside the meat for a crunchy bite, and the portion was really generous — plenty even for two people to share.

The batter had a lively chewy texture, fun to bite into, and the tenderloin inside was cut into thick pieces, so even one piece delivered plenty of the meat's own juiciness and flavor! The black vinegar-based sauce was tangy and sweet with a clean finish, never greasy, so I kept reaching for more — I get now why this place is known for its sweet and sour pork👍🏻

Verdict after trying all three dishes

It had been a while since I'd had Chinese food, and every single dish was so good I was extremely, extremely satisfied!!! The jjajang delivered with the smoky flavor of fatty pork, the jjamppong with beef belly and a fiery broth, and the sweet and sour pork with a generous portion and chewy batter — each dish had a clear identity at this Haeundae restaurant, Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch.

If you want to enjoy a proper Chinese meal in an upscale atmosphere, if you're looking for a Haeundae Chinese restaurant, or if you're scouting a spot for a date or family gathering in Haeundae, I highly recommend Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch! I'll have to come back to try the other specialty dishes next time ☺️
