I think gopchang (grilled beef small intestine) is more fun when you can pick at several cuts rather than eating just one. Especially when there are two of you, you do not want an overwhelming amount, but you still want variety—so choosing a menu can be surprisingly difficult. This time, I visited Pujim Gopchang Magoknaru Branch, where you can try everything from gopchang to daechang (beef large intestine) and makchang (beef abomasum) at once.

An easy-to-find, tidy restaurant
The restaurant is on the first floor of Building C at 161-8 Magokjungang-ro in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It is fairly close to Magoknaru Station, so it was convenient to reach by public transit and made a good dinner-meeting spot. Once you enter the commercial complex, the location is not especially difficult to find, either.

Inside, it had the relaxed atmosphere typical of a gopchang restaurant, but the overall impression was tidy and clean. The tables did not feel cramped, and it seemed suitable both for a casual meal for two and for a larger group gathered around the table.

It also looked like a good fit for dinner with friends or an after-work meal with colleagues. Above all, the staff were kind, so we could begin the meal in a good mood. Since you cook gopchang yourself on the grill, you tend to interact with the staff throughout the meal, and their relaxed service was nice.

What comes with the ₩59,000 Pujim Half Platter?
We chose the ₩59,000 Pujim Half Platter. It lets you try gopchang, teukyang (premium tripe), makchang, daechang, and yeomtong (beef heart) all on one grill, and it also includes a mini gopchang hot pot. True to its name, it was a generous platter with lots of different cuts to enjoy.

If you order only one cut, it can start to feel a little monotonous after a few pieces. With the Pujim Half Platter, though, each cut had a different texture, so it was fun to keep switching between them.

With several cuts cooking together on the grill, it looked pretty appetizing, too. The gopchang became nuttier the more I chewed it, while the daechang was tender with a distinctly rich flavor.

The makchang had a nice chewy texture, and the teukyang was fun for its characteristically springy bite. The yeomtong tasted comparatively light, making it a good cut to eat in between. Alternating one piece at a time meant that, even though it was all gopchang, the flavors and textures kept changing and never became tiresome. Personally, what I remember most was the nutty richness that came through overall. Going from gopchang to makchang and then back to daechang made the whole platter fun to finish.
A platter that includes gopchang hot pot
The Pujim Half Platter also comes with a mini gopchang hot pot. I liked being able to have a spoonful of warm broth in the middle rather than eating grilled meat continuously.

After the rich gopchang, a spoonful of broth changed the mood in my mouth and had me reaching for the grill again. The fact that it was included in the set, without needing to order a hot pot separately, made the meal feel even more substantial. If two people want both grilled cuts and hot pot, it is convenient not having to deliberate over several separate orders.

Gopchang with bibim noodles
We also added bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) as a side. A tangy side goes surprisingly well with something rich and oily like gopchang, you know? After a few pieces of gopchang, one bite of bibim guksu felt like it woke up my appetite again.

Alternating a piece of gopchang with the noodles worked better than eating the bibim guksu on its own. Choosing among the cuts, taking a spoonful of hot-pot broth now and then, and then having the noodles made the meal feel quite varied.

An evening of trying several cuts at once
If you are looking for gopchang around Magoknaru and want to try a balanced mix of cuts rather than just one, this is a platter worth noting.

The clean-feeling dining room and friendly service also kept the meal comfortable. Most of all, it was fun to compare gopchang, daechang, makchang, teukyang, and yeomtong all in one sitting.

Adding the mini gopchang hot pot and bibim guksu meant the meal never followed just one flavor from beginning to end, which made it even more satisfying. The next time I crave gopchang, I would like to come back here for the Pujim Half Platter again.
