Imdaejang, and what the name means

🥩The pork place strikes again-!! It's a grill restaurant where they actually cook the meat for you. Apparently the name comes from characters meaning "entrust," "stand in for," and "excel" — as in, entrust it to someone else and it'll turn out excellent. That's how it got the name Imdaejang 👀 💨Let's go taste some meat💨

The 3 dishes I ordered

The menu is classic grill-restaurant fare haha📝 I went with the mixed grill platter, beef brisket doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), and fried rice — three dishes🤟🏻!!

♡ With a Naver Reservation ♡ there's a coupon for beef brisket doenjang stew or pork kimchi stew, so definitely use it if you can!!

They say they use only top-grade domestic Korean pork, and there's apparently a proper way to enjoy Imdaejang, so keep this in mind 🥩The red special sauce really boosted the umami of the meat — it paired so well!!

How many people can the group booking fit?

There were plenty of seats to fit different group sizes, from big tables to small ones🪑 If you call ahead and book, you can reserve the whole space, which makes it a great spot for gatherings =) 💡Group bookings fit up to 26 people💡

On one wall there were posters of green onions, rice, kimchi, and pork, plus a nameplate with a funny caption 😳 (They say they insist on domestic ingredients for everything!!) I want a senior who'll buy me meat too...🤟🏻

Side dishes, plus water dropwort

The basic side dishes were ssamjang (dipping sauce), soybean powder, braised onions, and more, all served properly!! And here's the key point!! (ᯫ᳐⭐︎˃؎ꔷ ᯫ᳐)๓ɢ००ᵈ ᵎᵎᵎ You know a place is a real find when they serve minari (water dropwort)😆

Mixed grill: pork neck, belly, and skin

🍖 Finally, the meat arrives 🍖

The meat came out faster than I expected!! Pork neck, pork belly, and pork skin — three kinds — and they grilled the kimchi, minari, and bean sprouts alongside them too. Mixing and matching the meat to my taste as I went was so fun .ﾟ*♡ꕤ⸜(⸝⸝º ^ º⸝⸝ )⸝ꕤ♡*.ﾟ

😎 Do I even need to describe the taste and texture!! Tender and chewy with zero gaminess — a flavor nobody would regret👍🏻

Since all the meat comes out already grilled, they say it's best to only turn up the flame once it starts to cool (*´ლ`*)yum yum 📋 For reference, the meat is grilled by staff who've completed professional grilling training!!🥓

Fried rice and beef brisket doenjang stew

You know fried rice and doenjang stew are non-negotiable K-dessert-equivalent essentials, right?? 🍚The fried rice comes in a portion big enough for about two people, sizzled in the meat drippings — an essential pairing with the grilled meat!! 🥘The doenjang stew had that classic, proper flavor — salty and piping hot, perfect for cleansing the palate between bites!!

Free ice cream after the meal

🍦You get free ice cream after your meal too, so don't skip it — make sure you have some before you leave 🍦 ((It's one cone per person, so no overeating haha))

👊🏻Random fact👊🏻 I'm pretty good at stacking ice cream ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ😆 Ending with ice cream cooled down my mouth after eating hot food while going "hoo hoo" — such a clean finish!!
