Daejeon gopchang restaurant platter at Uhwa Gopchang
In short
Uhwa Gopchang is a gopchang restaurant in Seo-gu, Daejeon, serving a mixed platter of beef intestines and cuts. I tried the two-person platter, staff grilling, and flying fish roe fried rice. Verdict: a convenient choice for sharing several cuts with drinks.

I visited Uhwa Gopchang (우화곱창) while looking for somewhere in Dunsan-dong to have dinner and a casual drink. Its mixed platter lets you try everything from gopchang (beef small intestine) and makchang (beef abomasum) to daechang (beef large intestine), beef brisket, and beef heart at once, so it was great for enjoying a variety of cuts. If you are looking for gopchang in Dunsan-dong and cannot decide what to order, this is a decent place to start with a platter.
Is it easy to visit by car or public transport?
If you drive, you can use up to two hours of free parking, which took a little of the stress out of parking in Dunsan-dong. It is also close to a bus stop and Galma Station, making it convenient to reach by public transport.

With places such as Galleria Department Store nearby, it also works nicely as a meal stop after shopping or cultural activities. Location-wise, it is convenient when a group is meeting in Dunsan-dong using different forms of transport.
What to know before ordering the mixed platter

Along with mixed options, Uhwa Gopchang offers individual orders of beef gopchang, makchang, daechang, and beef heart. There are also items such as gopchang hot pot, yukgaejang jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), soybean-paste stew in an earthenware pot, and naengmyeon (cold noodles), making it easy to add something to suit your taste. We wanted to try several cuts at once, so we ordered the two-person mixed gopchang platter.

The table had a guide explaining each cut and how to eat it, making gopchang in Dunsan-dong a little easier to enjoy. The gopchang, makchang, and daechang arrive partially cooked on one platter; the guide says to eat the beef heart first once it is done, then have the gopchang, makchang, and daechang in that order. The vegetables are stir-fried in the gopchang fat, and you can ask the staff for more if needed.

When I visited, there was also an event offering flying fish roe fried rice for writing a Naver receipt review. You take a photo of the receipt after the meal, write the review, and show it to a staff member. As event details may change depending on when you visit, it is best to check again at the restaurant.
The complimentary table spread before the gopchang

The basic spread included tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), pickled perilla leaves, pickled radish wraps, green onion kimchi, seaweed soup, and cheonyeop (raw beef tripe). While the gopchang was being partially cooked, we could start with the tteokbokki, seaweed soup, and cheonyeop, so the wait did not feel dull.

In particular, there was such a variety of side dishes to pair with the gopchang, along with items to eat first, that the basic spread did not feel lacking.
Trying gopchang, makchang, and daechang on one platter

The two-person mixed gopchang platter we ordered included gopchang, makchang, and daechang along with beef brisket and beef heart. They say they bring in fresh beef offal every dawn, so I could also see the ingredient management that matters when choosing a good gopchang restaurant in Daejeon.

Ordering several kinds together made it easier to pick the cuts that suited my taste, rather than eating just one kind. If it is your first time having gopchang in Dunsan-dong and you are wondering what to order, the mixed platter is an easy option.
A mixed platter grilled by the staff

The mixed platter is partially cooked once in the kitchen before it comes to the table. The staff kept an eye on the table, stir-fried it themselves, and explained the different cuts, so I did not have to focus too much on grilling.

Because each cut of gopchang takes a different amount of time to cook, I usually worry about timing when grilling it myself, so having the staff take care of it was convenient. This would also be a plus at a Dunsan-dong group dinner where everyone is chatting while they eat.
A wide choice of drinks

There was also a wide variety of drinks to have with the gopchang. Along with soju, there were choices such as highballs, so people who do not enjoy strong alcohol can easily choose something to their taste. If you want a drink with gopchang but not everyone likes soju, those options are quietly welcome. It also suited a Daejeon gopchang restaurant visit planned around both a meal and drinks.
Finishing with flying fish roe fried rice

After the gopchang, we ordered flying fish roe fried rice to finish. Rather than making it ourselves at the table, the staff took the grill plate away, fried the rice, and brought it back, so we could simply wait comfortably and eat.
What stood out most at Uhwa Gopchang was its mixed platter of several cuts on one plate and the staff-grilling service. With convenient transport and parking plus varied drink choices, it suits not only a meal but also a Dunsan-dong group dinner. If you are looking for gopchang in Dunsan-dong or a Daejeon gopchang restaurant where you can try a balanced variety of beef offal, it is worth comparing.
