Cantonese sweet and sour pork at a Gwangjin, Seoul Chinese restaurant
In short
Hyeongjeae Guui is a premium open-kitchen Chinese restaurant near Guui Station Exit 2 in Gwangjin, Seoul. The signature Berkshire K Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork and the seafood jjajang noodles impressed with meat-forward texture and a black vinegar note, though portions ran a little light for two adults. A confident recommendation for anyone wanting clean, refined premium Chinese food.

They're closed on Sundays! I visited around 1pm on a Monday, and almost every table was already full 😮

✔️No parking support Parking is available in the commercial building, but the restaurant can't cover parking fees. Search for "Guui 3-dong public parking lot," the nearest option. It's about a 5-minute walk from Hyeongjeae.
What was the open kitchen and interior like?
✔️Accessibility and interior 👍🏻 First, it's not far from the station, so it was easy to reach on foot. Even though I visited during the busy lunch hour, the lighting and interior set it apart from a typical Chinese restaurant, and I could eat in a clean, calm atmosphere — really loved that!
✔️An open kitchen the owner clearly loves ❤️ Running an open kitchen, which is rare for a Chinese restaurant, made me feel even more confident about hygiene and ingredient management. That neat, trustworthy mindset seemed to carry straight through into the food ^^ haha

This would be perfect as a group room ❗️ And it's also great for two people eating privately. (If you like Chinese food, it might even work as a blind date spot lol)

The restroom was also neatly placed inside, which was convenient 👍🏻
What we ordered and how it tasted

📋 Order 📋 Seafood jjajang (₩15,000) Berkshire K Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork (₩26,000)

Berkshire K Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork: meat texture comes first
It felt so different from any sweet and sour pork I'd had before, it was almost like a whole new dish 😮 Honestly so good...

Usually with sweet and sour pork, the crispy batter hits your tongue first and the meat follows, but here it was the opposite! The soft, tender meat came through first, with the batter gently wrapping around it after. The well-seasoned meat had a clean touch of pepper, letting the quality of the meat itself really shine. You can taste the confidence in using good ingredients 👍🏻
The Cantonese-style sauce is different from the usual kind. What stood out was a sharp aroma that seemed to come from black vinegar, and nothing overpowered anything else — it was a really well-balanced flavor.
➰The wasabi pairing: fresh grated wasabi comes on the side, and adding it on top brings out a whole different charm! It feels like the flavor gets even more intense :)

Seafood jjajang: savory without being harsh
There's a slight spicy finish, and instead of the strong, harsh taste of MSG, it has a clean, light umami. Not overpowering but delicious — I really liked that.

The noodles didn't sit separately from the sauce either — the seasoning soaked all the way through. Good stuff 🍜
Final verdict — the only letdown was portion size
Overall the food quality was so good that I really enjoyed the meal. The one slight letdown was that the portions felt a bit small for two adults, so ordering an extra fried rice would've been just right 🐷 lol oink (guilty as a pig..). I confidently recommend this place to anyone looking for clean, refined premium Chinese food ❗️
