Hey everyone, this is Yeop! I was craving samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) again and went looking for good spots in Sejong when I found Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant. It seems like this chain is everywhere these days, but I think the Boram branch I visited this time was the best one yet, so let me introduce it.

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Boram Branch is located at 219 Sicheong-daero, 201-205 ho, Sejong. It's open Monday to Thursday from 16:00 to 3:00 the next day, and Friday to Sunday from 11:30 to 22:00. There's a break time on Fridays from 15:00 to 17:00.

Here's a look inside this Sejong BBQ restaurant. There were lots of tables and the seats were super spacious — really perfect for group meals. And there's even a playroom for kids! It was genuinely huge, so I think a family visit would be great for both parents and kids.

What comes with the half-pig pork portion (500g)?

The menu at Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Sejong Boram is split into pork and beef. You can choose half or whole portions. Single dishes can be ordered starting from 2 people, and there's a variety of side dishes too.

The complimentary doenjang jjigae and side dishes

They set us up with the basic side dishes, lettuce wraps, and doenjang jjigae — this comes standard at Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant! And you can refill it yourself too.

There's a separate gas burner for cooking the doenjang jjigae. The side dishes were kimchi, shredded scallion, spring greens, and onion — all great to eat alongside the meat.

The pork half-set arrived — the half-set is 500g, and it came with two mushrooms.

Time to grill! The fire was strong, so it cooked really fast.

A free plate of jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) on the house

The owner gave us jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) on the house! (Thank you so much 🫶🏻) It had bean sprouts, lettuce, and noodles. The sauce was seriously delicious... 😮 I'd really recommend ordering jjolmyeon as a side dish separately if you try this place.

Refilling the self-bar sides and the doenjang jjigae

For reference, there's also a self-bar so you can easily grab extra side dishes. There's a doenjang jjigae refill too, packed with tofu and zucchini — you could really tell the owner wanted to be generous.

How did the samgyeopsal, pork neck and hangjeongsal taste?

They grill garlic too — grilling it around the edge of the pan makes it taste great. There was samgyeopsal, pork neck (moksal), and pork jowl (hangjeongsal), so I had them all together.

As expected, the meat quality was as good as I'd hoped. Zero gamey smell, just delicious. Eating it all together with rice and doenjang jjigae was seriously so good haha.

I noticed some unusual wrap greens at the self-bar and grabbed some — they were about as good as lettuce, not bad at all for wrapping the meat. There's ssamjang (dipping sauce), salt, and wasabi sauce, and dipping to your taste is tasty too.
