Gwangjin Korean BBQ family dinner with minari add-on: Ssamchae
In short
Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Gwangjin, Seoul, a 10-minute walk from Exit 4 of Guui Station, on the first floor of the Jayang Hillstate Ver commercial building. Two servings of pork belly were grilled on a cauldron lid with added minari (water dropwort), but the wrap greens and side dishes are unlimited refills, so the minari turned out almost unnecessary given how much was already there. Staff grill and cut the meat for you, which makes this an easy, comfortable spot for a family meal out.

Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal (쌈채솥뚜껑삼겹살), a Gwangjin Korean BBQ restaurant with unlimited wrap greens
Today I'm sharing my review of Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, a Korean BBQ spot in Guui-dong~
📍55 Jayang-ro, 102-dong 103-ho, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, South Korea

10 minutes from Guui Station Exit 4 — and where to park?
Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is 🚟 a 10-minute walk from Exit 4 of Guui Station on Line 2, located on the first floor of the Jayang Hillstate Ver apartment complex's 102-dong commercial building.
⏰ Hours: 12:00 - 24:00 📍Groups and reservations welcome, high chairs available Free corkage available 🚗 No dedicated parking lot — I used the nearby Jayang 5-district temporary public parking lot!

The interior is split into two sections, so there's plenty of seating. The overall vibe is clean and pleasant! Seems like a good spot for a family dinner or a group gathering.

Unlimited wrap greens — heaven if you love ssam
One of the biggest perks here — the wrap greens are unlimited refills. 🌿 For someone like me who loves ssam (lettuce wraps), it's heaven~ There's a wide variety of fresh greens to pick and choose from, plus a good range of side dishes.
Aprons are also provided, so you don't have to worry about oil splatters on your clothes.

Menu and grill options
The menu was surprisingly varied too. They serve premium-grade pork and beef~ ✔️Pork belly / frozen pork belly / pork neck, 200g ₩17,000

You can choose between a cauldron lid or a charcoal brazier for grilling! Most BBQ places just have one fixed grill type, so this was a nice surprise. Mixed orders across types only work with 2+ servings~ I went with the cauldron lid.

What comes as basic side dishes
The basic side dishes were also quite varied — ggodeulbbagi kimchi (bitter lettuce kimchi), white kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, seasoned onion, myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), gungchae (Korean lettuce stem), ssamjang (dipping sauce), and garlic.

And napa cabbage kimchi, bracken fern, and seasoned bean sprouts to grill together on the cauldron lid too!

There's also sesame salt and curry powder. We ordered 2 servings of pork belly!

Staff grill the pork belly on the cauldron lid for you
What I liked about Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal — the staff grill the meat for you. No need to keep an eye on the grill, so I could just focus on eating~~
The pork belly sizzled away on the cauldron lid, and once it was cooked enough, staff cut it into bite-sized pieces and arranged it neatly. All you have to do is eat.

Was the minari add-on necessary?
We added minari (+₩3,000), thinking it would make the pork belly even better alongside the greens, but once we actually tried the wrap greens, there were so many varieties already that we probably didn't even need the minari haha
My husband's been on a diet lately so we only ordered 2 servings of meat, and with the namul and minari piled on, in photos it almost looks like there's less meat than there really is haha
It's really generous though haha — you can fill up just on the vegetables alone.

A wide variety of wrap greens too~
Nicely browned pork belly! Crispy and savory on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside — really tasty.

Great dipped in salt too, or paired with myeongi namul, grilled kimchi, bracken, or bean sprouts~

Pork belly really is best as ssam! Piling on plenty of greens and sides really cuts through the richness of the pork belly, so I kept reaching for more. It had been a while since we had a proper family pork belly outing.

In summary
The pork belly is delicious, and you can enjoy a wide variety of wrap greens and side dishes with unlimited refills at Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal! The staff grilling the meat for you made the meal that much easier to enjoy. If you're looking for a great pork belly spot in Guui-dong, I recommend this place! 🥩🌿
