Pyeongtaek lamb grill with shoulder rack: Hwaro Yangmi
In short
Hwaro Yangmi Pyeongtaek Court Branch is a lamb barbecue restaurant near the court in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. We ordered the Special Set for Two, with lamb loin, shoulder rack, and marinated ribs. Verdict: a great choice if you are worried about lamb’s distinctive smell.

Today, I went over near Pyeongtaek Court for some lamb ribs! A lot of places serving lamb can have a smell, but the meat quality at Hwaro Yangmi (화로양미), where I went, was good, with no unpleasant odor—and it was delicious—so I’m here to introduce it!

Parking and the atmosphere at Hwaro Yangmi Pyeongtaek Court Branch
We parked in the lot behind the building.

I was surprised there were so many people even though we visited late in the evening. I think it would be better to reserve ahead! We had made a reservation, and they had saved us a table. The interior was neat, and every table had a fan ready to keep a cool breeze going.

You order from a kiosk! It was nice and easy.

Why we chose the Special Set for Two
We came for lamb skewers, but the assorted platter with lamb ribs was reasonably priced, so we decided on the Special Set. There were lots of meal and cooked-dish options too, so it was easy to choose something you like. Next time, I should try the lamb skewers along with some other dishes. The dishes at the next table looked so good ㅠㅠ If only I weren’t already full, I would have ordered them right away..! Such a shame.
Side dishes

The side dishes were seasoned peanuts, zha cai (pickled mustard stem), and myeonginamul (pickled garlic leaves). It’s hard to find restaurants serving zha cai these days, so I was happy to see it, haha. Wrapping the meat in the myeonginamul was so clean-tasting and delicious! A lovely tang came through!

A staff-grilled set from lamb loin to shoulder rack
This is the Special Assorted Set for Two that we ordered! Even for two people, it looked like a lot, so I wondered if we could finish it, but it was just right! It is a good amount for two women; if you want to order generously, adding one cooked dish or meal would be perfect. The color of the meat was incredible.. The moment it arrived, it looked so appetizing that my heart was racing.
They grill the meat for you, too. They explained that they would grill it in the order of lamb loin → shoulder rack → fresh marinated ribs.
My first lamb loin
The first thing we ate was lamb loin. Can you see that sheen on the meat? It was my first time trying lamb loin! Since it is loin, I thought it might have a little chew, but I was surprised by how tender it was. So moist and soft.. The juices came out as I chewed, and it was delicious!

It was even tastier with the lamb seasoning on the side.

The shoulder rack I most want to recommend
Next was the shoulder rack. They trimmed each piece so it was easy to eat! If lamb is not good quality, it can smell right away, which is why people often either love or hate it—but Hwaro Yangmi’s lamb had none of that gamey odor, so even my sensitive mom enjoyed it. Nothing but compliments as we ate!

The meat had such a beautiful glisten. Of all the cuts I tried, the shoulder rack was the clear number one. If you add another order, I recommend the shoulder rack.
The owner even made a little handle for the meat attached to the bone, so it was easy to eat. They wrapped it in a napkin while telling us to be careful because it was hot—such thoughtful service.. So good.. It was so tender that the meat slipped right off.

Fresh marinated ribs with a gentle sweetness
Lastly, we had the fresh marinated ribs! This is 100 percent a flavor kids would love. You get to enjoy both lamb skewers and ribs—two birds with one stone. A gentle sweetness came through and added more savory depth. I want to eat it again..!
Hwaro Yangmi was bustling with people the moment we walked in, and there is a reason why. I recommend it as a lamb restaurant where you can eat without worrying about lamb’s distinctive odor. I’ll have to visit once more to try the lamb skewers, too!
