Gimhae sushi restaurant with 27 flame-seared pieces: Sushi Hwa

Today, I went to Sushi Hwa (스시화), a sushi spot with a great reputation in Gimhae’s Bongridan-gil, for a delicious flame-seared sushi set 🍣 My partner is a total sushi killer, so they insisted we had to go—and we zipped over right after work haha.

📍 Location: 1F, 32 Gimhae-daero 2315beon-gil, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do ⏰ Hours: Daily 10:00–21:00 / last order 20:40 Groups welcome; takeout, delivery, reservations, separate restrooms for men and women, high chairs, and wheelchair access at the entrance. 🅿️ It is beside the Bonghwang-dong Bongridan-gil public parking lot, so parking is free.

The weather had turned pleasantly cool—perfect sushi weather—so my partner and I happily popped in 😆 ♿️ The entrance was smooth with no threshold, with plenty of room for a wheelchair too 👍🏻 Maybe because it has not been open long, the exterior was super clean and full of Bongridan-gil’s signature vibe~

Spacious, comfortable interior and restroom

Unlike how it looked from outside, the interior was very spacious and comfortable. It has been cool lately, and lots of places do not run the air conditioning, but this place felt nice and cool the second we walked in~

There are two-, four-, and six-person tables as well as bar seating, so even solo diners can sit without feeling awkward! Even the two-person tables were quite large, while the four-person tables felt about as big as a typical six-person table.

For the restroom, you go through a door connected to the interior, leading to an individual restroom outside the building. It is hard to find clean restrooms among Bongridan-gil restaurants, so I was completely satisfied with this one ✨

There are flame-seared sushi sets, extra flame-seared sushi, fresh sushi sets, fried sides, and more. Flame-seared sushi is the main thing here, so we ordered the 27-piece set for ₩38,000.

Each table has individual tableware, paper cups, soy sauce, and shichimi (Japanese seven-spice blend). A Naver receipt-review event offers a drink or sushi.

Is the 27-piece flame-seared sushi set enough for two?

Just a heads-up: ordering the flame-seared sushi set means a big spread, so you should sit at a four-person table rather than a two-person one! We came as two and sat at a two-person table because we did not want to take up too much space, but the set was way too big to fit there, so we moved to a four-person table~ More space is always better 😊

With the flame-seared sushi set, you can choose chilled soba or udon, so we got one of each to try! The chilled soba had lots of slushy ice, while the udon was piping hot~ It came with pickled scallions, ginger, and blueberry salad too.

You can try all kinds of flame-seared sushi here: wagyu, thin-sliced beef belly, shrimp, shellfish, egg, inari sushi, and more!!! You can choose sweet or spicy sauce, and we went half and half!

Sushi is all about the combination of rice and raw fish, so you naturally pay attention to ingredient freshness. Here, I could feel the care that went into making every single piece.

My partner is such a sushi killer that they only eat delicious things, and they absolutely inhaled this 😋 They kept putting pieces in my mouth and telling me to hurry up and try them, so I was inhaling it too without a moment to breathe hahahaha.

Chilled soba or udon: which should you choose?

Drinking the cool chilled-soba broth midway through was so refreshing from the inside out 🧊 I recommend the chilled soba. But my partner sprinkled shichimi over the hot udon and enjoyed it with a spicy kick 🌶️

It was a side udon, but the portion was pretty big and it was tasty too?! If you are torn between chilled soba and udon, I recommend friends get one each 😚

Every sushi variety had a different texture and flavor, so it was fun choosing and eating them one by one.

I was not expecting much from the inari sushi or egg sushi, but they were so delicious that I wanted to order just those separately. The owner is truly a sushi master, approved 👍🏻

After the chilled soba and four pieces of sushi, I started getting full, but I had to taste every kind, so I kept thinking, “Should I have just one more?” and ended up slightly overeating lol. Usually my partner finishes what I leave, but today we both kept nibbling away happily 😋

Honestly, it is quite a lot of food for two 💛 If you want to try lots of different flame-seared sushi, I recommend ordering this menu item ✨👍🏻

If you are looking for great sushi in Gimhae’s Bongridan-gil, I recommend it. I especially loved the clean, comfortable interior~ They also have rice bowls, so I think I will return for a simple lunch! It seems perfect for an easy meal of a sushi-and-udon set. The owner was kind too, which made it an even nicer dinner 😊
