In short

From breakfast to drinks in Juchon, Gimhae
This is such a delicious, generous gamjatang (pork bone soup) place for filling up before a Costco grocery run in Gimhae. It opens from 8 a.m., so it is great for breakfast or a hangover cure, and absolutely perfect for having a drink with dinner, too... 👍

A spacious, pleasant dining room and private rooms
When I walked in, the dining room was much more pleasant and spacious than I expected! The tables were nicely spread out, so conversations from the next table did not blend in, and the whole place was kept incredibly clean.

There are private rooms too, so you can dine comfortably. Great for company dinners or gatherings!
The self-service bar was spotless as well. You could comfortably help yourself!

Ordering the gamjatang feast set for two
There were two of us, so without hesitation we ordered the signature gamjatang feast set for two.
- Gamjatang feast set for 2 ₩40,000
- Steamed rice ₩1,000
- Self-fried rice ₩3,000
- Cola ₩2,000

Honestly, on my first visit I saw the name “feast set” on the menu and ordered it without much thought, assuming it would just be gamjatang with a few sides added. But the moment it arrived at the table, my jaw truly dropped... 😲🔥 Usually at a gamjatang restaurant, you get one pot of bones and that is it, right? Here, even before the gamjatang starts boiling, the lineup fills the table to bursting. It is on a completely different level.
A full spread with handmade pyeonyuk and seasoned raw crab

This is not factory-supplied pyeonyuk (pressed pork slices) ❌ They say it is handmade pyeonyuk prepared in-house, made with 80% pork skin and 20% lean meat, plus their sauce. It was wonderfully chewy and nutty, with an intensely rich flavor filling my mouth..!

Seasoned raw crab as a basic side or part of a set at a gamjatang place? That is really not common, you know? The crab was packed so generously with meat. Its sauce was sweet with just the right kick of spice—a total appetite-boosting cheat code, haha.

Huge bones and tender pork
The gamjatang had huge pork bones stacked like a tower above the pot, plus generous amounts of ugeoji (seasoned cabbage greens), mushrooms, glass noodles, and potatoes.

They were so big that even picking up one bone had some real weight to it... 👍

The lean meat slipped softly right off as soon as I touched it with my chopsticks. It must have been simmered for a long time: not even a hint of pork smell, and incredibly moist in the mouth. 🌼 They do not give out that “master” title for nothing, haha.

I also dipped it in the garlic sauce that came with it.

The broth was neither salty nor murky—just richly meaty with a nicely spicy edge—so it was wonderful with rice mixed in. Add a bite of kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and it disappears in no time.. (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)
Making self-fried rice with the leftover broth

It is basically illegal to eat gamjatang without fried rice, right?.. I felt like I was going to burst, but I responsibly added it anyway 🤍 Leave a suitable amount of gamjatang broth, then add rice, seaweed flakes, sesame oil, and vegetables, and stir-fry it well. Press it lightly against the bottom of the pot over low heat, and it is done!
Making it yourself was fun, and the slightly saucy gamjatang seasoning coated every grain of rice—the nuttiness and savory depth were unreal... 👏🏻 We scraped every last bit off the bottom of the pot ( •͈ᴗ•͈)◞
A great combination before or after Costco shopping
The pork was tender, the broth was deeply rich, and even the seasoned raw crab side was excellent. Especially, ordering the gamjatang feast set for two and going all in with the crab and self-fried rice... it is a combination that simply cannot fail, so please try it this way! Plan it into your route as a Costco food stop on a weekend grocery trip, and you have the perfect weekend course. Pork party: success 🐷✨
