Gangnam Korean BBQ with private rooms at Deo Bareun
In short
Deo Bareun Butcher Restaurant is a Korean barbecue restaurant near Nonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. I reserved a private room for Saturday at 18:00 and had 600g of Jeju black pork, with staff-grilled pork belly and doenjang-jjigae as the standout pairing. Verdict: a place I’d happily revisit for a private meat meal or gathering.

A friend recommended Deo Bareun Butcher Restaurant Nonhyeon Station Branch (더바른정육식당 논현역점) as a great meat spot in Gangnam, so I ended up visiting. It had been so long since I’d had meat that I was excited just thinking about going for a delicious meal. Since it’s a butcher restaurant, I thought I’d get to eat really fresh meat. I went in expecting a restaurant with great-quality meat.
A butcher restaurant with private rooms in front of Nonhyeon Station
It’s right in front of Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station, so it’s incredibly easy to get to. There’s a large sign on the second floor of the building, so you can find it right away!

Catchtable reservation for 18:00 on the weekend!
We booked Saturday at 18:00 through Catchtable before visiting. The seating is divided into the main dining area and private rooms, and I was assigned a room, so I could enjoy my meal at a relaxed pace! (So nice.)
I highly recommend it as an evening company-dinner spot for nearby office workers, too! Perfect for a work dinner! In particular, I think the private atmosphere would appeal to people in more senior positions, and it would be just right for enjoying premium Korean beef.

The menu and ordering Jeju geun-gogi
I’ve included photos of the menu as well, so I hope they’re useful for reference.

Jeju geun-gogi (black pork), 600g — ₩69,000
The complimentary side dishes included white kimchi, green onion kimchi, cabbage salad, pickled radish, seasoned lettuce, and myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves).

The sauces, in order, were salt, ssamjang (savory soybean dipping paste), and wasabi. I liked how neatly the sauces and side dishes were presented.

How were the Jeju pork belly, pork neck, and pork jowl?

Here comes today’s meat! The 600g platter of Jeju five-layer pork belly, pork neck, and pork jowl felt like a good amount for two to three people, and I thought it was great value. Since this is a butcher restaurant, it’s a place where you can absolutely trust the quality of the meat. You can tell just from the photos, right?!

I also brought a video of the meat grilling, and the ASMR sound is insane. Phew... Looking at it made me want to eat it again.

Black pork with doenjang-jjigae
We also ordered doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and two bowls of rice, and they were just perfect with the meat. The stew seemed to cut through the richness of the meat so well, so I definitely recommend it. Even as I write this review, I want to revisit and eat the black pork and doenjang-jjigae again...

The staff grilled the meat themselves, which made it so easy to eat. They stacked it to the side in easy-to-eat pieces, and my boyfriend and I enjoyed it so much. Personally, I thought the five-layer pork belly was the tastiest because of its pleasantly chewy texture. The pork jowl had an even balance of fat and lean meat, so its springy bite was absolutely delicious.

The meat looked insane. My pick was wasabi—five-layer pork belly topped with wasabi is such a winning combination!

It was also delicious wrapped in white kimchi and myeongi namul, or dipped in meljeot sauce (salted anchovy sauce). We even ordered Sprite to make the meat taste even better, and that pairing was great too!

Looking at the autographs hanging above, it seemed like many celebrities had visited to enjoy meat privately too~! The main dining area is quite spacious, and there are several private rooms, so I actively recommend it for work dinners, dates, and gatherings.
I recommend Deo Bareun Butcher Restaurant Nonhyeon Station Branch as a restaurant where you can enjoy Jeju black pork at a good value. Next time, I want to save up and try the premium Korean beef too~! I’ve been going to the Nonhyeon area for appointments lately, so I think I’ll visit often. I recommend you stop by whenever you’re craving delicious meat as well.
