Gangnam Korean BBQ restaurant with torch-finished LA galbi: Raviok
In short
Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant between Yeoksam and Eonju stations in Gangnam, Seoul. On a Friday after work, I tried its staff-grilled, pre-seared LA galbi with scallion kimchi; the banchan and spicy bibim kalguksu were rather ordinary. Verdict: I’d return for the exceptionally tender meat alone.

I heard there was a meat restaurant near Yeoksam Station that focuses on just one thing—LA galbi—so I had to go check it out.
Today I’m writing about Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch, a great meat spot near Yeoksam Station that I visited with a friend after work on Friday. ☺️ LA galbi is usually something you eat during the holidays or make at home, right? You don’t really think of buying it at a restaurant, but this place specializes in pre-seared LA galbi. The meat was truly excellent, though honestly, the side dishes were a little disappointing. I’ll get into that too.
Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch: location and hours
Address: 2F, 42 Teheran-ro 25-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea (서울 강남구 테헤란로25길 42, 2층)
Getting there: about a 320 m walk from Exit 6 of Yeoksam Station (roughly midway between Yeoksam and Eonju stations)
Hours: daily 11:30–22:00 (last order 21:30)
Break time: Mon–Fri 14:30–17:00 (no break time on Saturday or Sunday)
Corkage: weekdays, ₩10,000 per bottle of wine and ₩20,000 per bottle of spirits; free corkage on weekends and public holidays
There is room for about four cars beside the building, between Ipillyeo Gukbap and Traga. They ask that you contact the restaurant if it is full.
A tiled-roof exterior and an antique-style interior

The tiled roof and red-brick exterior make it fairly noticeable from outside.

Once inside, it was much nicer in person than in the photos. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be “antique”—but elegant antique, not old-fashioned antique. The space is divided by glass partitions, so it would be nice for a date, and because the staff cook all the meat, it also seemed like an easy choice for a Yeoksam work dinner.
LA galbi menu and prices

- Ravi grilled beef (200 g) ₩22,000
- Ravi marinated beef (200 g) ₩22,000
- Snowflake prime galbi, grilled (150 g) ₩29,000
- Snowflake prime marinated galbi (170 g) ₩29,000 — limited to 30 servings daily; pre-order available
- Add shiitake mushrooms and garlic scapes ₩4,000
Even the paper menu on a clipboard suited the atmosphere nicely. Considering meat restaurant prices these days, the prices felt reasonable. They also offer lunch specials—an LA galbi rice bowl for ₩10,000 and a set meal for ₩15,000—so it seems like a place that works for office-worker lunches too.
Staff-grilled LA galbi finished with a torch

Once the meat arrives, the staff grill it from start to finish. That sizzling smoke and beautifully colored meat are impossible to resist....

At the end, they give the outside one more pass with a torch, and the aroma of the meat really rises then.

This is the kind of look that becomes an emergency if you can’t eat it immediately...

In a word, it melts in your mouth. There was none of that chewy texture LA galbi can have; perhaps because it was so well aged, it practically went down without any chewing. Add a little wasabi and the meat’s flavor is amplified even more.

The combination with the scallion kimchi that came with it was good too. Think of it as an entirely different food from the LA galbi you make at home. You can immediately tell from one piece of meat that this restaurant is serious about LA galbi.

Maybe because it was Friday evening, but with meat this good, a beer naturally followed. Weekday wine corkage is ₩10,000, so wine lovers may want to bring a bottle along.
How was the spicy bibim kalguksu?

For a side, we ordered spicy bibim kalguksu (mixed knife-cut noodles). It looked good with vegetables and shredded seaweed on top of the sauce, but the taste was simply okay. It was fine as a palate cleanser while eating the meat.

I also tried wrapping the meat around the kalguksu. Haha.
The side dishes were the disappointing part

Honestly, the banchan (Korean side dishes) were disappointing. There were quite a few varieties, but none that I particularly wanted to reach for. I thought it would be much better to reduce the number and have just one delicious kimchi. The meat was this good, so it was more disappointing that the side dishes did not support it.
Little details, from cutlery drawers to mouthwash

The cutlery drawer at every table kept things neat,

and the mouthwash stocked in the restroom really showed the owner’s attention to detail.

They even had after-meal candy at the end!
A place worth returning to for the meat alone
My friend and I stopped by after work on Friday without much expectation, but the meat alone gave us a reason to return. The side dishes were disappointing and the sides were ordinary, yet the LA galbi itself covered all of that. The atmosphere works in its favor for a date, and staff grilling works in its favor for a work dinner; I think you could even bring your parents here and get compliments. It feels unlikely to fail, whatever the occasion.
I’d describe Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch as a great meat restaurant near Yeoksam Station that stakes everything on LA galbi. If you are looking for a good restaurant near Yeoksam Station, or want properly made LA galbi even when it is not a holiday, I think it is worth trying at least once.
