In short

Visiting on a rainy day, the writer ordered two mild (level 1) fire-grilled octopus stir-fry sets plus an added fried king shrimp, filling up on the set's salad, acorn jelly, wood-fired pizza, and unlimited rice and side dish refills. I visited Boksakkot Pineun Jip in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, an area well known for Sutonggol restaurants.

A Gyesan-dong, Yuseong-gu octopus restaurant with a big parking lot
The moment I walked in, I liked the place just from the parking lot alone.
The lot was spacious, so it was easy to drive there, and it felt like a stress-free spot for a family visit too.

Even though it was a rainy day, the place was packed.
There's a play area set up inside for kids.
Kids often get bored while parents eat, so having even a small space where they can play must be a relief for families with little ones.

Two fire-grilled octopus stir-fry sets, level 1, with fried king shrimp added
I ordered two fire-grilled octopus stir-fry sets, level 1. Each is ₩16,900, and I also added one fried king shrimp for ₩2,500.

The fire-grilled octopus stir-fry set isn't just the main dish — it comes with salad, acorn jelly bowl (dotorimuk), vegetables and rice, and even a house-made wood-fired pizza.

They bring out the basic side dishes for you, and you can help yourself to extra sides from the self-bar.

How spicy is level 1?
Being level 1, the spice was very manageable,

and since the octopus was fire-grilled, it paired really well with rice.
I only expected an octopus stir-fry dish, but once the whole set was laid out, the table was surprisingly generous.
It was oddly fun that a house-made wood-fired pizza came along with it too.
I'd eat some octopus stir-fry, then switch to pizza,

and with the salad and acorn jelly bowl added in, the meal felt quite varied.

Rice and side dish refill self-bar, with japchae too
But beyond the food itself, what I really liked here was being able to refill rice and side dishes.

Various rice side dishes were set out, and there was even japchae (stir-fried glass noodles). Wait, what is this place?
Coming with kids means they can pick and choose their own side dishes, which is nice, and I also liked being able to grab more of whatever side dish was running low without feeling awkward about it as a family.
How many people can a group booking hold?
It also looked like a solid spot for group gatherings. Reservations run from 2 up to 56 people, and groups of 40 to 56 can use an entire private room.
Worth keeping in mind when planning a family gathering or a larger group event.
Free ice cream and coffee after the meal, plus the café next door
When you pay at the end of the meal, leaving a review gets you free ice cream.

And after paying, you also get free coffee — you just take it over to the café next door.

The café was spacious and comfortable, perfect for resting after the meal, and it had orandeu (sweet Korean crackers) and ppeongtwigi (puffed rice snacks) of various kinds laid out.

Having free coffee and snacks after the meal made it feel like the whole meal-to-dessert experience was wrapped up in one visit.

In summary
Big parking lot, generous set composition, rice and side dish refills available,

plus a play space for kids, and free ice cream and coffee after the meal!
If you're looking for a place in Yuseong, Daejeon for a filling meal followed by a relaxed coffee afterward, I'd recommend Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch as a family dining spot.
