Mapo handmade burgers and onion rings: Quokka Bite

At Quokka Bite, between Gongdeok and Daeheung stations, I had two handmade burgers and onion rings. The hot chicken burger was thick and crisp, while the Grilled Quokka Burger had a subtle smoky aroma from its beef patty.

How far is Quokka Bite from Gongdeok and Daeheung stations?

The restaurant is behind Gyeongui Line Forest Park, on the first floor at 서울 마포구 백범로24길 11. It was about a five-minute walk from Daeheung Station Exit 3 and about eight minutes from Gongdeok Station Exit 1.

One car could park in front of the restaurant. Pets are also allowed, so I thought it would suit stopping by for a meal after a walk along Gyeongui Line Forest Park.

The hours listed in the original post are Monday through Saturday, 11:00–21:00, with a break from 15:00–17:00 and last orders at 20:30. It is regularly closed on Sundays, and takeout and delivery are available.

What is the atmosphere like for solo dining or a meal for two?

There were tables for two and four inside. It was comfortable but not a large restaurant, and there were many delivery orders during my visit.

It had a pub-like feel, and there were many foreign customers on the day I visited. It felt comfortable for eating alone, stopping in as a couple on a date, or sharing a meal with friends.

How do you order, and what comes with a set?

The sides included several kinds of fries, such as Original Fries, sweet potato fries, and butter garlic fries, as well as onion rings and chicken tenders.

I ordered and paid at the kiosk. I wanted a filling meal that day, so I chose a set with a burger, side, and drink.

The items I ordered on my own were the Nashville Quokka Hot Chicken Set, Grilled Quokka Burger, and onion rings.

Was the Nashville Quokka Hot Chicken Burger very spicy?

I started with the Nashville Quokka Hot Chicken Burger. It has a Nashville hot chicken patty coated in hot seasoning, with a brioche bun, coleslaw, and dill pickles.

The chicken was thick and crisp on the outside, with juicy meat inside. Since “hot” is in the name, I expected it to be very spicy, but it was manageable even for me, as someone who does not handle spicy food well.

What were the flavor and texture of the Grilled Quokka Burger like?

The Grilled Quokka Burger has a flame-grilled beef patty, brioche bun, cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, tomato, romaine, and house sauce.

The bun was moist and lightly toasted, which went well with the patty. With vegetables and sauce included, it did not feel greasy to my taste, and it made for a satisfying meal.

The flame-grilled beef patty also had a subtle smoky aroma.

What were the onion rings like as a side?

The onion rings had a crisp coating, while the onion inside was softly cooked. With each bite, a gentle sweetness from the onion came through. It was my first time having onion rings as a burger side, and they went together better than I expected, making them a particular favorite of this order.
