In short

Something About Coffee is a large bakery café near Gangnam Station in Seoul, serving fresh-fruit cakes and a wide range of baked desserts. Inside the three-floor café

Something About Coffee is a huge, three-story café. Even so, it was completely full when I went on the weekend—there were really so many people 🥹

Drinks and desserts

There is a varied selection of standard coffees and cream lattes. They also have plenty of drinks with black sesame and matcha, plus ades and teas.

The dessert area has such a pretty, frilly feel, so it is great for photos—and somehow everything looked even more appetizing, haha. There is a huge variety, including pineapple cake cookies, butter scones, blueberry crumble, and chocolate pudding. They also sell pound cake by the slice, and the prices are fairly reasonable.

There are lots of baked-good-style desserts, and even the financiers come in versions ranging from plain to ones with various toppings, so it is easy to choose according to your taste!

Cakes that sell out fast on weekends

Peach sando and yellow cheese cake

And to give you the conclusion first: the cakes here are really delicious 😋 They do not hold back on the ingredients, and I was satisfied enough to call this a real cake spot, haha. They also sell peach sandos, but if you go late on the weekend, the good ones are already sold out, so I recommend arriving early.

I have been seeing lots of yellow cheese desserts lately, and Something About Coffee's yellow cheese cake is topped with a house-made yellow cheese cookie. There are ingredient descriptions beneath the cakes too, which made choosing easier.

How was the peach cheesecake?

Ordered peach cheesecake
Cheesecake topped with nectarines

Every cake looked so good that I deliberated for a while, but since peaches are at their best right now, I chose the peach cheesecake!

It has peach cheesecake layers, peach cream, and generous slices of nectarine on top. The cake is infused with peach, giving it much deeper flavor, and I really recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth.

Cheesecake with peach purée

There is peach purée tucked throughout the cake, so every bite stays fresh and tangy, and it goes so well with the cheese and that sweet-salty balance.

The better-than-expected salted chocolate financier

Salted chocolate financier dessert

Honestly, I picked this without much expectation, but it was so much better than expected. I am not usually that into baked treats, but the cake was not dry, and the chocolate did not taste cheap—it is bittersweet in a way that makes you want another bite.

Matcha cream chocolate latte

Ordered matcha cream chocolate latte

Matcha and chocolate! Two things I love in one drink, haha. Just from the name, it felt like it could not possibly be bad, so I ordered it immediately without hesitating, haha. The chocolate aroma is stronger than the matcha.

Latte with chocolate and matcha layers

The chocolate is on the bottom and the matcha sits on top. The matcha was not astringent or bitter; even without mixing, it had a nicely nutty flavor. The chocolate layer was exactly like rich chocolate milk, a flavor that would be hard for anyone to dislike.

Lemon ade

I wanted something refreshing, so I tried the lemon ade. There was a little syrup, I think, settled at the bottom, with refreshing lemon on top.

Lemon ade topped with lemon

Honestly, the flavor was simply a sweet-and-tart lemon ade—nothing unusual! The carbonation was just right, and the lemon was not overly sour, which was perfect 😋

There are so many kinds of bread, so if you have an anniversary or a gift occasion near Gangnam, I think you would be happy buying a cake or dessert here!

I recommend Something About Coffee, a Gangnam café with a large but charming space that is also great for taking photos!
