Gwangju Suwan restaurant with kids' meal trays: Bueokgan Suwan

I went to the Lotte Outlet in Suwan district with the kids and got a craving for good Western food, so we headed over to Bueokgan, a brunch pasta spot in the neighborhood. It's a Western restaurant with salads, pasta, risotto and pizza, and it has plenty of mild, not-spicy menu options that are great to eat with kids — soooo good. Plus they gave the kids their own dishes, so they ate happily and ate a lot more, haha.

Where is Bueokgan Suwan Branch, and what are its hours?

Bueokgan Suwan Branch is located at 37 Suwan-ro 106beon-gil, 1st floor, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju (Suwan-dong 1340). It's open daily from 11:30 to 21:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, and last order is at 20:20.

With a name like Bueokgan (부엌간, meaning "kitchen"), I expected fusion Korean food, but it turned out to be Western food perfectly tuned to Korean tastebuds!

Just a heads up — there can be a wait during peak hours! It was pouring rain so hard that day that there was nobody outside, haha.

Bueokgan Suwan Branch has a baby chair, and they bring out separate kid dishes for you. They even matched them by gender — one set for the boy, one for the girl — so the kids' eyes lit up! haha

What we ordered at Bueokgan Suwan and what it cost

At Bueokgan Suwan Branch we ordered cabbage Caesar salad for ₩16,000, jambon pizza for ₩24,000, shrimp rosé pasta for ₩20,000, and abalone cream risotto for ₩20,000. It was a hearty spread for the four of us, two adults and two kids.

A salad that lets you sneak in a bit of health. Bueokgan, the brunch spot in Gwangju's Suwan district, has all kinds of salads, so this time I tried the cabbage one. Next time I'll try a different salad — I want to try everything on the menu at this place!

Jambon pizza, 24,000 won

A pizza piled high with jambon! With such generous toppings, there's no way it could be bad — and the sweet cream cheese sauce drizzled on top made this salty pizza sweet-and-salty in the best way! The crust was crispy and savory too, so we finished every bit, haha. It's especially great paired with pasta, dipped into the sauce — a perfect match.

Shrimp rosé pasta, 20,000 won

A shrimp rosé pasta that suits everyone's taste, young and old! The shrimp were a good size and the sauce was super generous — totally my type, haha.

Abalone cream risotto, 20,000 won

The must-order abalone cream risotto, a healthy bite for the kids! It's topped with fried enoki mushrooms. With that savory flavor and the chewy texture of the abalone, the kids ate it up easily too.

Since the dishes are trays, we could give the kids a variety of foods without anything mixing together — such a great feature~~!

Is Bueokgan Suwan Branch worth it with kids?

Bueokgan, the brunch pasta spot in Gwangju's Suwan district, has become our go-to Western food place with kids — every time we go, we leave satisfied, well-fed, and happy. Visiting with kids means the pretty food gets portioned nicely into their own bowls too, which makes the whole meal feel even better, haha. If you're looking for a Western restaurant to visit with kids, I recommend Bueokgan in Suwan district^^
