On an anniversary date, booked in advance, the writer ordered one serving each of anchangsal, tosisal and jebichuri, then a course of abalone porridge, butter-grilled abalone, rice cooked in safflower water and seafood doenjang stew. For our anniversary, we visited an omakase beef restaurant in Jinju, and I loved it so much I wanted to write it up. The interior felt really upscale, and the beef was so delicious that it completely won me over.
Where is Psyche in Jinju? Hours and parking
Psyche (프시케) is located at 16-18 Chojeonbuk-ro 61beon-gil, 1F, Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. It's open daily from 18:00 to 22:00, last order at 20:30, and closed every Sunday.

Psyche in Jinju has dedicated parking right by the entrance, so we could park comfortably for free.
Inside Psyche: four rooms, only four parties a day
Psyche has four rooms total, meaning they only take four parties a day. Walking in, you immediately feel the upscale atmosphere.

Enjoying beef in a pretty, private room was really nice. There's also a room with more seating available, so it seemed good for group visits too.

We had reserved ahead of time, and the owner guided us in kindly, so we felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in.
As soon as we sat down, they brought out abalone porridge, which was savory and a great way to start. They said nearly 100% of the tableware is brassware, reflecting the owner's warm intention to treat guests like royalty.

They also mentioned they do birthday events for special occasions, and there's a review event too — worth keeping in mind!

Psyche's signature beef menu and prices
They handed us the menu, and there are three signature items.
- Anchangsal (skirt steak) – ₩49,000
- Tosisal (skirt flap) – ₩49,000
- Jebichuri (neck chain) – ₩42,000
Membership pricing brings the price down further, so if you plan to visit often, signing up seems worthwhile.

We wanted to try all three, so we ordered one of each: anchangsal, tosisal, and jebichuri. For reference, they also have wine and a variety of drinks and liquor, so you can pick whatever suits your taste.

The side dishes and kimchi at Psyche
The basic side dishes were already set out. Among the pickled items were chorogi (Chinese artichoke), gungchae, and pickled garlic, and the namul (seasoned vegetables) rotate seasonally.

We got spinach, mushroom, and bean sprouts, and the mushroom was really tasty — it kept a firm, chewy texture without going mushy, which made it clear the side dishes here are a cut above.

My partner especially loved the kimchi. It really tasted like it was made in-house with care.
Anchangsal, tosisal, jebichuri: how do the cuts differ?
The meat we ordered arrived quickly, and wow, the look of it was already on another level. On the plate, from top to bottom, were jebichuri, anchangsal, and tosisal, accompanied by scallops, zucchini, tomato, and mushroom — a really solid spread.

They started grilling the tosisal first, cooking it to just the right doneness. If you'd rather enjoy the meal privately and intimately, they told us they're happy to step out of the room for a bit if asked.

Butter-grilled abalone and yuja-dressed salad
While the meat was grilling, they brought out the butter-grilled abalone and a salad. The salad used a refreshing yuzu dressing, with walnuts adding a nice nutty crunch throughout.

The butter-grilled abalone in particular was the best abalone dish I've had recently. The key point was that one side seemed to be fried golden in oil.

Tosisal with scallops and mushrooms
We ate the well-cooked tosisal first, and it was so tender it nearly melted in the mouth. It had the feel of a soft tenderloin — clearly a different experience from meat at a regular BBQ place.
The staff suggested stacking the tosisal with scallop and mushroom and eating them together, and the combination of the three was fantastic. Following the staff's suggested pairing really did make it taste richer.

Anchangsal: deep beefy flavour and three sauces
Next, they carefully grilled the anchangsal right beside us and we tried it right away. Anchangsal has a stronger beefy flavor than tosisal, which made it appealing in its own way.
Apparently only 1.2–1.8kg of anchangsal comes from a single cow, making it a rare and highly prized premium cut. There were three sauces to dip it in — turmeric shiitake sea salt, whole grain mustard, and wasabi — so you could choose to your taste.

Jebichuri: a rare cut with less marbling
They grilled the jebichuri right after, keeping the flow of the meal going without a break. Jebichuri was a cut I'd never heard of before — apparently a specialty cut running long along the neck bone on the inside of the rib.
It had less marbling, so it felt less greasy, while still holding plenty of juice. Since it has less marbling, my tip would be not to overcook it, or it might turn out a bit dry.

Finishing with seafood doenjang stew and safflower-water rice
After thoroughly enjoying the omakase beef in Jinju, we also ordered from the meal menu.
- Seafood doenjang stew (된장찌개) – ₩9,000
- Rice
Along with our order, they also brought roasted gim (seaweed) and soy sauce.

The rice in particular had a distinctive color from being cooked with safflower-steeped water. Safflower is said to help blood circulation and break up stagnant blood. Recently, they've also been adding golden okra leaf powder to the rice, which many women like for its plant-based collagen.

I assumed doenjang stew would taste more or less the same everywhere, but this one had a deep, distinctive flavor unlike a regular doenjang stew, and it was really delicious. Inside were 4–5 big clams, which made it fun to pick out one by one.

Personally, I think the roasted gim was the highlight of the meal. Wrapping the rice in crispy roasted gim and dipping it lightly in soy sauce was so good.

After we finished, they brought out kiwi and orange for a refreshing dessert, which felt like a really thoughtful touch. Finishing the meal cleanly and then eating the sweet fruit left us happily full.
Is Psyche worth it for an anniversary date in Jinju?
The staff were so kind and the meal was so generous that it was a truly satisfying beef restaurant in Jinju. If you're looking for a private omakase beef restaurant in Jinju for a special occasion, I'd recommend visiting Psyche.
